With all the usual caveats that I will want to see it in person, and a few stylistic elements on which I'm lukewarm now but that will probably grow on me as usual -- I like the bike. And I begin to perceive that I may have less money this time next year.

That thing would look so good parked next to my street fighter. If only I could be so fortunate as to have to decide which one I would want to ride on any given day....

Hey all,
I'm backkk!!! How've you all been? Member #19 but haven't posted in years. Sold my 2002 Ducati 998S Bostom years ago, but decided to get back into riding. Opened the website and omg 3,357 members now. Wow! Well, I need a bike, so just placed a pre-order for a 2012 Ducati 1199 Panigale from Seacoast. It was cool seeing some of the old gang recently at MotoMarket's party, at Seacoast's Ducati Fashion show and again yesterday. What a great dealership. It always was years ago..and still is. Jim went out of his way to welcome me, as did everyone else. Felt just like old times at BCM walking through the service area. Sooo cool. Looking forward to catching up.

Theres a guy around here who owned a tricked out S1000RR for exactly .5 miles before high siding it. The tire was brand new on one side, and had a wicked wear mark on the other side. I think the thing had to be stripped down to the frame to be repaired. I guess all the electronics in the world can't compensate for bad judgement, cold weather, new tires, etc ...

Yep, I was watching a couple the other day looking at Ducatis. He has never ridden and wanted the stats from the monster 796 to the 1100 to the 848 and 1198. I am thinking this guy isn't buying a bike he is buying a status symbol, party conversation piece, or fashion accessory. I wanted to tell him to wait for the 848 Corse edition and call me at the end of summer when he's thinking of selling it due to pick one or all: lack of interest, no time to ride, scary fast, uncomfortable, stupid cagers.

This bike is pure insanity and I love it. Every time I read the specs it puts a huge smile on my face and I just laugh.
Saw the bike in person on Saturday in New York. Beautiful piece of machinery. It was up on a separate stage, surrounded by lights and a "Do Not Sit" sign...much to my dismay. Having put a deposit on it, my goal was to get a feel for the ergos. I ignored the sign, and took a quick few seconds on the bike before a couple ducati guys promptly kicked me off and scolded me. Mission accomplished. The bike was much more comfortable than I expected. I'm 6'1", so ergos is a concern. I've ridden the RSV and it's too uncomfortable for me. The Panigale feels like you are more in the bike than on top of it. Definitely more comfortable than I expected.

Local guy is adding one to his stable of Duc, Bimota, Honda RC, KTM. With that collection as cool as the 1199 will be it might not even stand out in his garage. Cant wait to check it out though. He has his Desmosedicci displayed at the dealer and its incredible. The $7K accessory exhaust is a work of art. Best thing is he rides them all.

Stopped up to Seacoast today after work to finally see one in person. Was a little disappointed to see 5-6 of them sitting outside in the rain. Anyhow, I saw Patricia, Jim and everyone else which was nice. Got to sit on the 1199S and it was everything I expected and then some. Turns out they were prepping my bike at the time which was total surprise to me because they had no idea I was coming. After talking with Jim for a few mins I asked what the Termi slip-ons cost and said screw it throw 'em on. Hopefully the bike will be ready in the morning 'cause I'm itching to ride this beast!
If you haven't had the chance to see one for yourself, you owe it to yourself to take the drive up(or down)! The bike is a complete work of art. Everything from the headlights to the dash to the wheels...it's truly amazing.
I was at Seacoast on Wednesday myself. This 1199 is something to see indeed.
