Lawson was absolutely flying on the paved section, and he was quickest in the dirt as well. I liked that long flattrack corner. Ironically that's what took out Chris Carr.

I'd love to race some supermoto tracks like that. The stuff with whoops and big MX jumps I just can't do on a supermoto bike.

Carlsbad had a great MX track. got a bunch of races from back in my day on VHS somewhere with Johnson, Wardy, O'Mara, Lechien, etc. duking it out. that was one of my fav outdoor tracks to watch. always wish i could have visited in person. so sad its all gone

And sadly Carlsbad is mostly warehouses now, albeit occupied by Big Daddy Don Garlitz and the Snake Prudhome...but it's gone nonetheless When I was living in San Diego we ran the dragstrip, and it was on it's last leg facing urban sprawl and the not-in-my-backyard crowd. There were also remnants of some fantastic canyon riding (all off-road) throughout the SD area which were formerly connected to make hundreds of miles of offroad. Talking to the older locals it was amazing to think of the wonderland they once had. It's funny how California went downhill so fast with as many throttle jockey's as it has.
