2010 Yammys are out:

No one else finds it odd that the ONLY change to the R6 (other than the usual ECU "improvements") is making the stock exhaust bigger? I mean, this is supposedly the most competitive (and biggest selling) market segment, and Yamaha seems content to rest on its laurels. Don't get me wrong, the '06-'07 and '08-'09 versions are spectacular bikes (and very popular in the track set), but I thought there was supposedly an "all new groundbreaking" GSX-R600 on the way, so I would think they'd throw a wrench in somewhere, especially with the ZX-6R and CBR600RR going into "carryover" years.

Is this just another sign of the economic times, or are we finally hitting a middleweight performance plateau (especially considering they've almost all cracked the $10k mark)?

Lemme review my David Ricardo economics here....as the local currency decreases (aka Yen) the demand for national goods(in this case Japanese goods) go up.

Assuming the price of the Japanese bikes are pegged with the Yen then this implies that the price of the bikes will go down in USD with a drop in the Yen.

Now since, our invoices are denominated in USD and not the Yen...the only way one can bank on the potential savings of a decrease in the Yen would be if the japanese manufacturers would decided to pass those savings onto us....I find this unlikely.

I ain't sure that the price of the bikes are linked with the FX rates. At the end of the day it is a question of supply and demand. Demand is just not there....people ain't buying japanese, italian or US goods...aka recession

I am suggesting that they need to get a grip and learn from the rest of the auto industry. Just post a fucking price and sell at it. Rather than turn some perspective customers away, like running away from the dentists office. An increase in this economy really isn't a good idea anywhere in the world.

Perfect example is why is Honda dumping 2007 and 2008 models at 3k to 4k off MSRP. How would you feel if you just bought one earlier this spring?

Sadly, this is the way of the retail world. To put up a price that is nauseating to the masses in the hopes that you bait but a few which will in turn allow you to justify the price.

Think about the prices of your XBOX, Nintendo, Playstation, etc. The exact same thing is happening, only differences are the price and product.

The trick, as a consumer, is to wait.

Yup, the rebates from the factorys start flowing in mid-end of the summer.

A lot of dealers are hurting now and I'd bet you can buy some of these new models for a small amount over cost. I'd bet there will even be some factory rebates before the season ends on 2010 models.

I like it, not as cool as the Honda Repsol edditions but still pretty cool, def not worth the extra money. I'm sure a aftermarket fairings company like aucmarts will make one that will be just as good for like 800$

I am feeling pretty "meh" about the 2010 street lineup changes. Alternative graphics and ECU remaps aren't terribly thrilling. Did the R&D team take the year off, or are they just saving up some big changes for 2011?

That said, I probably wouldn't complain if they brought back the yellow and black like they did for the 50th anniversary bikes for 2006.
