    Aftermarket grips

Anyone use non-heated aftermarket grips? Looking for a little more cushioning for longer rides.

    How are Pro-Grip grips?

They are ok. When they start to wear the rubber comes off and gets all over. Get some Rethals.

    Re: Aftermarket grips

i use pro-grips and so do a bunch of my friends. i'd recommend renthol, but you've already said your new bike wont ever see track time.

stick with ProGrip gel grips, and stray a ton of WD40 on the clip ons. you'll be good to go after it dries.

I used the Gel Grips, and when they wore down, I put on Grip Puppies. These go on right over existing grips, and add more cushion and diameter. (wait, that's what she said!)

    Just another option...

Just tossed on some Pro-Grips the other day. Can't say how they are long term so listen to those guys. But mine are really comfortable so far.

    Re: Aftermarket grips

I put some pro grips on the R6... so far very comfortable for long rides, zero vibration.... I used laundry detergent as opposed to WD-40 to get them on, so far no slip

I've never had an issue putting after market grips on. I used grip glue and nothing else to slide them on.

Google buell traction grips. They're nice and fat in the middle to contour to your palm. Good stuff, cheap too.

    Re: Aftermarket grips

Pro grips are cushiony and cheap. They come in a few different thicknesses and compounds. I keep them handy.
I personally use grip glue or nothing but compressed air to put grips on.

We have 4 different models including race thickness with safety wire channels.

+1...the Pro Grips tend to get gummy after awhile...leaves your gloves a mess

I used pro grips on the SV and liked them. I would use compressed air to get the old ones off and new ones on(as suggested by Ted) . I don't mess with WD or hairspray.

Just cut off the old ones... you're gonna toss them in the trash anyway. Then use hairspray to put the news ones on.

Do you have cans of compressed air? Like the kind you use to clean out computers? If so I've used that before and it works AOK

Galindo Superbike grips, if you can get past them saying "superbike" on them they are the best I have ever used. Nice and thick.

It kinda cracks me the lengths people go to changing grips.

    Re: Aftermarket grips

Chuck, I had the Buell Traction grips on my old XB, heated grips are coming off my bike and another set of the traction grips are going on the 11.. Super comf. and I think like $14. Alot of Buell guys have asked why they don't come standard on the bikes.

I used to use hairspray until I was caught in the rain for an extended ride and learned that hairspray gets very slippery when it gets wet. Water soluble.

I have carpal tunnel on both wrists (go ahead, let the jokes fly, but it means I'm ambidextrous) and need to get my hands as comfortable as possible. If the vibration is too great, my hands fall asleep really quickly.

I put enormous bar end weights on the 900, since the previous owner had removed the stock and and removed the weights that are inside the bars.

This time, I'll keep the weights in the bars (unless I end up replacing the clip-ons).

You could do like the jackass PO of my F4I and put fishing weights in the bars.

What did use for bar ends on your 900rr?

You could always fill the bars with sand. It changes the frrquency of the bars.

These are actually the best of the lot that I've seen. I just placed an order.

I'll let you know how they are.

    Thanks for all the suggestions.
