Anyone in the R7 community possibly volunteer to have their air box 3D scanned so it could be printed? Seems like this could be a good opportunity, you’d own the model to have them reproduced for others as well.

It’s worth a shot to ask at least, but I’m finding knowone will touch certain parts on their bikes with it being so rare. There’s also risk to whoever does it, to damage certain parts while doing so, parts that they also can no longer get.

I think in the end, it’ll be less risky, and probably quicker to have one custom made.

Yeah, that’s what I was getting at. The scanning process is no-touch. Risk would be in deinstall/reinstall and shipping.

Anyone know where I can buy a front axle? I see model specific axles, but no specs listed. I pretty much need the same axle as the R7 has now, but the end with the hex head needs to be 32mm and not 30mm like the stock one

It’s been a while since the last update, and progress has been slow, still no luck on an air box.
The front end is almost all sorted out. A friend of mine made the axle nut/spacer I was missing, and machined the spacers I had to center the front wheel in the forks. I have to pick up the spacers and brake rotors tomorrow from his shop.
I also bought a carbon front fender for an Aprilia RSV4 factory, it’s a perfect fit, I just added the original R7 Yamaha decals. Still hopeful I’ll find the original fork bottoms, and the front fender at some point. I was able to find the original front brake calipers, I bought them just to have originals.

Picked up the brake rotors and front spacers this afternoon, and just put the front end back together. It’s starting to look like a complete bike. I’m down to needing 3 parts (and some minor odds and ends) to having a complete bike to the point I’m happy and would call it done. Front brake lines, original chain guard, and the air box.

Thanks, pleased with it so far. I’m more concerned with having the original parts for appraised value so I can get a more accurate insurance value, and also for possible future resale value.

I did, and resale in this case is probably 20 years from now.

The maroon 07 R1, I bought just to flip it. I bought it without a title, but it had a prior registration. Used the Vermont loophole to plate it, removed all the squid add ons, and sold it. Oddly, the guy that bought it, was from Vt. That was one of the cleanest used bikes I think I’ve come across. The Rossi R1, is likely a flip bike as well in a year or 2

Latest score, a set of original R7 forks. The timing was clearly off, as had these been available sooner, I wouldn’t have spent the time and effort machining axle spacers and locking nuts. I likely won’t mount these to the bike, I’ll just add them to the crate of spare original parts. I do like the radial brake set up and carbon fender that’s on the bike now, just want the option to be original. The only 2 parts missing to make the front end of the bike 100% original at this point is an OE front fender, and the OE front brake lines.
Still nothing on the airbox, but hopefully something comes available over the winter.

I wouldn't think twice about the brake lines. I don't think anyone looking to buy the bike would have a concern about replacement brake lines.

I bet factory Ohlin forks from a super rare bike were cheap
