Who's our go-to nowadays for straightening wheels?
I just scored a set of wheels for my R6 and while they are complete and in good shape, they both have a slight dent on one side that I'd like to clean up a bit.
I'm also half thinking to try some percussive maintenance before making phone calls.....
Bergs, i know of a shop in Maryland and one in CA.
I used McWheel a couple times, when they where still in NH, great job, if I needed the services again, I'd probably ship to their new location in Tucson, AZ
Looks like Mc Wheel is now located in New Amsterdam, NY. They moved in 2024, good thing for us!
yep, looked up the address on google, shabby little subdivision house in said sad little city, having met the man and his father, little to no property tax burden, his shop must be somewhere other than his home, or he's workin out of a 1 car garage, maybe he's growin weed too:dunno: although I can't say much for sales tax in NY, how much in that county? Winters are as bad as NH, maybe needed the more common work of car wheels damaged in winter.

This place is around the corner from my work, no experience with them, but their website says they do motorcycles wheels
Amsterdam is a high property tax city with high state taxes. It bonus is housing is usually pretty cheap. $150k gets you a pretty nice house to this day. Its a very, very, very hilly city so winters are terrible there. Its up hill everywhere you go with limited city plowing. In the summer its grid locked off I90 with everyone trying to get to the lake. And up that hill. towing boats. that fall off the trailer with alarming regularity.

My Ducati 900SS FE I got sight unseen from Florida had a really messed up front rim. Noah took care of it as there is no longer a replacement OEM part for the black FE rim. It was both dented and out of round side to side. Came back without a mark on it. He also did an R1 wheel for me back in 2016. A real pro. Good luck.
BTW Here is a pic of the Duc

There is a company in NJ that was popular on Advrider. Can I find a reference? No.
McWheel sounds perfect.
There are a lot of places to do powder coat and paint that are local to me so I don't need to worry about that. I have a great painter in Worcester. Airbrush Works Bill 508-798-2775. For powder coat I usually query the local Harley places for reviews and ask for the best.
Due to shipping cost to send both wheels out, and risk for damage in transit, it's looking like I'll end up taking a day trip to visit MC Wheel. I spoke with Noah earlier today and he was open to having a day scheduled where I would drop the wheels off in the morning and he'd call when he was done working his magic.
After going through the wheelset, removing the rim tape and cleaning them up, it appears there are a couple slight bends to straighten out and one of the front discs is bent as well but I think at 150 I did fairly well on price for a complete set of wheels with tires and cush drive.
Reached out to Paul E D about a brake disc but he's a little busy at the moment racing the 4-hunnert so if anyone has an R6 front disc kicking around.........

when they were in NH, I brought my wheels to them, first time, I watched and waited, only took part of an hour, second time, mt wheel needed welding more than straightening, they had repaired SV wheel on the shelf, so they just gave me that one, and I was on my way home
So not 298mm OD.
310mm
