Ok...So what do you guys think of Katanas?
Seriously though I kinda need valid opinions...

What are you looking to do with this bike?
Commuting ?
Weekend touring?
Track Days ?
also how big are you? figures into equation
for how much power you need
the Katana as a sport bike form factor
is heavy and slow...
light and slow is better
or light and fast better yet
Great comfy two-up. Reliable, easy to maintain.
I have a beatiful 750, black with hot colors.

Not a bad bike, but go sit on one. Leah had one of the older generation katana 600's and found that she was stretched out on it to reach the bars.
Best advice is to go sit on as many bikes as you can, and buy the one that fits you best. Honestly everyone has good and bad stories to tell on just about every bike out there, but bottom line you really can't buy a bad moder sport bike these days.

Are you talking about a brand new one?
2003 ZX7R

You can't buy them anymore new can you?
Unless they're left over from past model years? (Not all that unlikely)

they are fine i gues..but i think there are so many better choices
I don't think the words "Wow, I LOVE my Katana" have ever been said in the history of man kind.

How 'bout an FZ6?
I know a little about everything, and alot about nothing.
They are not called a "Can O Tuna" for nothing.

I sat on one...A brand new 750. Its OK...But a good deal... I was looking at YZF600R...And the sales guy tells me that they are comparable?
I still like the Kawasaki 600R too..![]()

ya mean 650R?
I'd look more into that. Talk to Sean & Leah. She's got one. I've heard good things & it's probably alot lighter than the other two choices.

Yup, she sat on every 600 on the market and that was the one that fit her. Its real skinny in the waist so your legs aren't as far apart which makes it easier to flat foot it. Its light and had real world useable horsepower. 60 hp give or take.
I have taken it out a couple times , its a fun bike to ride, carves up the twisties almost effortlessly.
We did a 1000 mile long weekend last season and she said she was comfortable on the bike. I was in pain on my sprint after the 2nd day.
Like I said before the only bike that is the right one is the one that fits you.

Oh yah.. definitely take a nice look at the Ninja 650R. (Might as well sit on an SV650 too)
I saw a Ninja 650 a few weeks ago when I took my bike in for service.. it was out front and I did a double take.. WOW what is that! (I'd read about it but forgotten about it)
It looks really nice.. I'm sure you'd feel psyched having that instead of an older design. Very sharp, and it looks very small and light.
IMO, given your shorter stature, XV, sit on tons of bikes. I've seen you ride and that isn't going to be the problem, but what with the little guy now in the world, your balance and equilibrium is going to be a little different than it was pre-baby. If you can, ask delaers (or private sellers) if you can at least walk it around the parking lot/driveway a bit so you get the feel for moving it. If you want to take mine for a spin, when I get it out of storage you are more than welcome to do that to check out an SV.
