she usually gets prepped for storage final week of december (last few years have been warm/not too snowy), and only for 6 weeks tops, since there's usually that late Jan/mid Feb thaw where it'll reach 50 for 2-3 days and the melting snow will wash most of the crud away.

that's only for fighting withdrawal though. no serious riding until the street-sweepers make their rounds...

I got hit with a surcharge last year for a "major accident"; no injuries but the bike hit a ditch and got totaled. In order to save a little ins. money, (I own two bikes outright) I have taken all liability off the bikes; except for theft. I don't think I will see the road until April.

I wish I had a garage where I live now. I would have been out on it the other day. Right now the bike is stored in a garage 45 minutes from me. My son still lives there and keeps an eye on it. It is kept in a semi-heated garage, and the battery is on a maintainer, so it will be ready when I am.

I've never put my K100 away for the winter. This winter it has about 1,100 miles since December 1. There's a lot of good winter riding if you have decent gear.

Never really put it up. Heated garage so as long as its dry I might ride. Was out last week as a matter of fact.

mine stays on the road - too many random 50ish degree days to pull the plates.

Re: When do you take your bike out?

I put mine away when it gets too cold out to really ride comfortably and I'll take it out again when the roads clear up. Despite the temptation on freakishly warm days, I'd rather wait until temps are up consistently and the roads are a little bit clearer. A crash on a heavily sanded road for a quick ride just isn't worth it to me. Not to mention the wait for parts sucks too. It's just a better move in my opinion to wait a few extra weeks.
