I would go sport touring or naked with an upright seated position for a street bike.

This is tough. if you're tippy toe on one foot on the Sv then I don't know what will fit you best. My girl is tippy on two feet on her gsxr, but on my sv1ks she is flat foot both feet. While my bike is substantially taller, its much narrower.
It seems like you're looking for more power, and more or similar comfort of the Sv. Also something for daily fun but the ability to do some mild touring.
Maybe a monster of any size (i like the s4r)

hey! thanks everyone for your insights! so Paul and i went to every shop you can imagine in NH

conclusions

i could tip toe on the 675r and thats a beauty, love the add ons such as brembos and ohlins etc. like the stats on it and was quite comfy for me.

by far the 1000 gsxr was the most comfortable for me i could touch the balls of my feet on both sides, and i liked the cortech options for saddle bags


i also like the R1 read the stats... loved the new cross plane, the thing sounded amazing was comfortable, much wider tank, but once i put my feet up on the rearsets i felt comfortable wasnt so sure what my options were other than a small tail bag. as im not a fan of tank bags


I DID NOT FIT on any sports tour, dual sports, motards etc.... and even when i sat on them everything felt far away for me

im not finding many options due to my height, narrow hips, and short inseam, fortunately those three bikes i fit on, with out having to lower etc.

ps wasnt impressed with Naults... THEY tried selling me a cruiser after i specifically told them i wasnt interested lol

The regular Daytona 675 is a little lower then the R version.

The Daytona r is a horrible street bike. The ride is horrible and brakes are over the top. If you never plan to track it, save the money and go with the normal version.

from what i understand, the front end on the 675 has the tendency to feel a bit vague. i dont know if that translates to street riding, im just going on what ive heard about them on the track

GSXR 750 by far on of the best all around bikes.......

From my understanding, the offset triple clamps make it a stable, but flickable bike... but sacrafices feel at/near the limit. Great for a street bike, bad for a race bike.

From a guy that has a lot of bikes, all with their own purpose, make sure you have a goal in mind for each one. It will make it a lot easier to choose which one to ride each day and you won't feel guilty leaving the others behind.

This is how I ended up deciding on my tuono. I made a short list of what my intentions were with the bike, then a short list of "must have's" and short list of "would be nice's" based on those intentions... then went on my search.

Going from a GSX-R 600 to a 675, I'm blown away by the differences in the two bikes and have had a TON more fun on the 675 than I ever did on the GSX. However, if you're doing that much riding in one day, you're definitely going to need to go with a Gel seat as opposed to the stock piece of plywood they put under your ass.

Triumph also makes a "low gel seat" which is ever so slightly lower than the regular stock seat, making for better feel around the feet/ground area. Some people have claimed they couldn't tell the difference but I definitely could when I made the switch. I'm not a giant by any means (5'8" with boots on) and I can flatfoot with the low gel. Just another thing to think about that could help in that area without lowering the bike.

I'm in the same boat as you guys but I already know what I want. I'm going for the Kawasaki Z1000. It's basically a Ninja 1000 but with a smaller gas tank (by a gallon) and different bodywork (more streetfighter like than the Ninja 1000).

Rational behind my decision was I already have a traditional sportbike, and I dont want another traditional sportbike. I want something that offers a "different" type of ride and looks different. Mainly a more comfortable ride but has the performance of a traditional sportbike and also appealing to the eye. All this combined led me to the Z1000. I've actually ridden on one too so I know exactily what it's all about.

Not sure if my story helps but figured I'd throw it out there.

Hells yea! Buddy of mine who's a motorcycle collector that has about 15+ sportbikes that ranges from all sorts of manufacturers and generations has stated my 06 GSX-R 750 was one of the best sportbikes he's ridden to date. That says a lot considering the guy it's coming from.

Seems like you're doing things more or less in identical pairs. I'd suggest you step away from the "cute couple on matching bikes" mentality and start thinking more as a team.

What you really need is a sport tourer but you've said you're too short. I doubt this applies to Paul so rather than spend your time trying to find a low seat height bike that you and Paul will like, why not send him off looking at sport tourers while you pick something out based on your fit? The hard truth is that you may never fit on a sport tourer. However, being engaged to a sport tourer rider means you'll have someone to carry your tools, tire repair kit and luggage on longer rides.

I've done a few 450+ mile days this season on my 09 R1 and was impressed at how good I felt at the end of the day!

Jackie, get a Triumph Street Triple! How could you not like the purple?? :D

I love how they show this bike with the arrow exhausts on it. Oh and if I was buying a new street bike it would be a Tuono or Street Triple or Speed Triple....very different bikes but I would want bars.
