Eh...just morbid human curiosity, really. The video doesn't show much detail, it all happened way to quick. The description of the scene is actually more graphic than the vid clip.

Too bad. Another joy ride that got way too carried away.

the bad stuff happens at 2:18

scary...they were only going ~75-85mph when it looked like he wasn't paying attention or tried to make an unsafe pass...

It looks like the car and the victim both tried to make an unsafe pass...the car got there first and clipped the motorcyclist. It's a shame, but I see no joy in going that fast in public. Just too damn scary in my mind.

That article did a really great job demonizing those guys....not saying they didn't deserve it or anything, but still....It was getting my blood boiling reading that (in the sense that those irresponsible riders pissed me off) and then when I saw the actual accident in the video....it was at a point when they weren't even hooliganing it so much anymore. and that car also was attempting a hairy pass himself, with no mention of that....what a terrible situation all around.

I don't know the traffic laws there but I think that car either 1. pulled out intentionally or 2. Was trying to make a really stupid pass.

(Not blaming the car. Those guys and anyone that rides like that on the street are/were idiots.)

It seems like his speedometer read in km not miles per hour. So 170 km/h is a little under 110mph.. Right?

yikes. im betting the car saw the bikes overtaking and in a moment of moronic speed-racerism went to make the pass to block the bike. Hell, I get that shit from cars on my PEDAL road bike, a lot of people cant stand the thought of getting passed by another car, let alone a bike or bicycle.

Its no excuse, the area was WAY too congested for that kind of riding, but still, that guy in the car was a douche too.
