If the 400 LC4 is what I think it is, it's just about as heavy as the modern 690, significantly heavier than the modern 500s, and has less power than the modern 350s.
I have heard the engines on them are bulletproof though.

It fit the bill wonderfully! I've decided to (kind of) set a budget (for now). Orange seems to run a bit toward the high-end of that ladder. That's not entirely out at this point, either. But I'm still wanting to take a street set-up Jap 450 dirty bike for a blast...
Thanks man, I appreciate that. I THINK if I go that route, I'm leaning more toward the dirty side of things. A motard isn't OUT, but it's not quite tops. Although I'll certainly keep your offer in mind!
I'm planning to check out the WR250 that's for sale here before the end of the weekend. MAY be a bit under-powered for street use, but probably about right for my off-road 2-wheel skill set...
And here's a curveball, although I DID mention power cruisers earlier in the thread: hoping to get to check out a Victory Hammer within the next coupla days. No, seriously...a Victory Hammer...
Didn't see your post on riding an FJR, I'd have brought mine up. But alas, it is sitting in its new owner's garage.
Victory Hammer, yep, I kind of have that bug as well. I'm not big on the all black genre, but that 8 ball at NPS makes me tingle. I don't know what the difference is with an "S" version, but can't imagine these things can handle that well to begin with.

I rode the hammer (non S) at their foxboro demo day. for how much of a 'power cruiser' it was billed as I wasn't impressed. Maybe its not supposed to compete with the vmax (gen 1), but I don't know. I do know the OD was incredible though. like 1800 rpms at 75 mph. Felt kind of soul-less to me. fit and finish was beautiful for the most part though.
:lol: There's really no 'power cruiser' that compares to even a vintage Vmax. I can honestly say that top-notch power really isn't a big consideration for me. If it were, I'd be turning my hunt towards GSXR1000's, big ZX's and the like. Not street legal dirt bikes & power cruisers... :D
I appreciate the input. But as I've pointed out, I'm not remotely interested on opinions at this point. I'm fairly certain what I'm looking for - okay, I bounce around a bit - but when I'm ready for opinions, I'll solicit them...
Top 2 spots on my 'to do' list are power cruisers & street legal dirt bikes, not in any particular order... :)
