Re: need a bolt extracted
Also late to the party with a suggestion that probably wouldn't have helped given just how hard you were probably cranking with the cheater bar, but if ever in doubt of rounding out a hex bolt, apply a little daub of valve lapping compound to the bit to give it more bite.
For steel bolts in aluminum, sometimes I give a little blip of an impact gun in the forward direction first, just to crack it free.

he drilled two small holes down the sides to weaken it. i forget what else he said he did to make it break. said it was very stuck on there. the frame threads were undamaged. the bolt could loosely thread back in too.
Re: need a bolt extracted
bumping this because now i need threads repaired.
since that bolt was extracted, about half the threads got torn up.
measured the thruster and it was about 21.5mm, so i'm guessing i need an M22 kit.
looks like Helicoil doesnt make such a kit. looked around and saw some others but were $200-$500 for a kit to repair a single thread.
i'm hoping someone might know of someone that can or has the tools to get this done. i'm at a loss right now.
already installed new races as i was getting the frame ready to swap over on my bike.

Re: need a bolt extracted
If you have the appropriate size tap, run it through a few times. I've gotten lucky on a few frame threads on my KTM where simply running a tap through took care of the threads.

my kit doesnt go that high. the M22 taps i've seen online are $100 - $200.
Re: need a bolt extracted
have a machine shop make you a threaded slug, that is drilled & tapped at the center for your stock fastener, then drill/enlarge & tap to the size of the slug. use red locktite
or find a larger diameter fastener that works, and enlarge and tap to that size (what I did for one of the seat bolts on my SV650)
Re: need a bolt extracted
If the threads just need to be repaired (not tapped), you can make a "thread chaser" out of a bolt. Just dremel a decent sized groove in the side of the bolt so that the waste has somewhere to go, and thread it in carefully. Kind of like a poor man's tap.
This will straighten and clean up the threads nicely.

You can get one for like $20 on Amazon. Yeah they may not be fantastic quality, but for a one time use you don't necessarily need quality.

it's for a specific bolt that centers the motor. cant switch to SAE unfortunately.

Yep, good hard steel. You can resell your kit on ebay (-1 coil) if you want to recoup some of the costs.

only thing i would need is a big ass drill bit before tapping the threads for the new insert.
shipping will take a while, which cuts my frame swap project quite some time.
red loctite on the new threads and good to go?
Re: need a bolt extracted
if you expect threads to wiggle around you want thread locking..now you're better off making your own kit. it comes out to about the same cost but of course you gotta call to order the special thread locking inserts

Looks like I need thr thread insert to be 15mm in length, and that kit has 33mm threads
