If you don't think that you had things easier than those growing up in the Great Depression, I don't know what to tell you. The vicissitudes of the economy means that some generations have it easier than others. High unemployment rates means that it is harder to "grab shit". Low unemployment rates means that even the kids who don't have themselves together can get a job and maybe get some of the stupid worked out.

Like I said - I don't have a problem. I did fine, I was and am pretty straight laced and abnormally studious. I just don't think my generation is really all that different constitutionally from previous ones
