Anyone see a Firebolt out on the road?
SilverSurfer and his 200-post thread on SBN has me really curious.
My local dealership didn't have one last weekend, they didn't even have anything about the contest to win one.
I really want to see one in person. I saw like 3 V-ROD's last weekend already, I would have thought I'd run into a firebolt pretty quick.

They had one at Vanson's open house.. along with a Vrod.
Ya, I saw one. Should we discuss it endlessly and use up the NESR server space??
I'll admit, it's a cool bike, technically, but not the best looker... that front fairing is a turd. I really want to take one for a ride. If I'm lucky, I'll win the contest.

Personally, I don't like the idea of a half 'tank' of gas sloshing around underneath me. Not to mention that frames usually get heavily damaged in accidents, which would tell me that the design is a bit dangerous. I admired summa the breakthroughs initiated with this bike, but I just can't get over the tank in the frame thing. Just seems like a multitude of lawsuits waiting to happen...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
I think the oil in the swingarm sounds more bizarre to me.
I wouldn't worry about the gas in the frame too much. It's not like the regular tanks on other sportbikes survive high speed accidents that often.
It'll still be a lot more cool when they give him a nicer engine. I have to imagine if he did all this crazy stuff to a 750cc or 600cc inline 60/90-degree liquid-cooled twin it would be even cooler.

Ya fuckin' KAK!!! That NEVER woulda happened if you didn't kick my front tire while you were passing me!Do you remember the RF tank, Jay? I think frames are far more sturdy than gas tanks... (note, I said I THINK, lol). Yeah, anyway, I'm gonna go look at pics of the RF.![]()
T he tank wasn't leaking tho, but the frame and swingarm were cracked. Thus my point. Frames on sportbikes are much more prone to failure due to accidents. And like I said...how's the bike gonna handle when the frame is down to a quarter 'tank'? Just doesn't sound all that stable to me, and it AMAZES me that the DOT with all it's regulations allows something like that!

If Eric Buell wanted to make a REAL sportbike, they'd have their counterpart, Rouche Racing develop a REAL motor for them. What the fuck??? Like a Harley Sportster engine can withstand the rigors of what modern day sportbikes dole out. Gimme a fuckin' break. The WORST thing Buell did was sell 50% of his company to Harley...
