most of them are illegal to have on if the bike is in motion.
IE, not parked for a show or something. Especially if you decide to get ones that are either red or blue flashing.
especially not on the side of the roadway and then mouthing off to a cop when he gives you a ticket for illegal lighting(Not me, read it on a forum somewhere).
Green or yellow lights are your safest bet.
OP: NESR probably won't be the best place to ask this question since most of the guys on here don't ride with neons, led's, or anything along those lines
it's a form over function sort of deal, and since people here feel established as riders and not posers, people will insult you for asking
just take the responses with a grain of salt
btw, did you mean "kits" and not "kids"?

Not that I know anything about the LED thing but if you do get them make sure you install then clean. We had one bike come into the shop for some work and it was a mess. Who ever installed the lighting kit had wires running everywhere and it just made it more difficult to work on the bike. In the end the new owner just had us pull them off and he tossed them in the trash.
This was where I got mine that I had on the Super Duke. Very good instructions and a very nice kit they give you! Mine had a remote which was nice because if somebody can get to the switch and turn it on you may return with a dead battery.... Or hide the switch under the seat or a fairing most can not find!!
Wait long enough there is a member on the board that may contact you about making you a nice LED kit...

Excelent post, Mike. I knew we could count on you to make a HELPFUL and INFORMATIVE post.... after all, this thread is in General Motorcycle, not Off Topic. Way to lead by example in a thread started by one of our NEW MEMBERS.

I'd suggest not making the switch totally inaccessable from the riding position, but hiding it instead. If it's literally under your seat, yeah no one can turn it on w/o you knowing...but then you also can't turn it off in a hurry (like when the po-po's after ya). I had neons on my Water Cooler that the P.O. had installed; the switch was just inside my left leg, under the seat. Out of plain site, but reachable while riding.
Why would you need to turn the lights off as you are riding and the Po Po is after you?
Wouldn't you just stop and turn them of then?
