I have one but the issue I run into is the straps coming off the canyon dancer are too long. When I hook a tie down to the canyon dancer, then go to hook the other end to my truck, I have to shorten the tie down all the way up and I still end up with slack. No way to tighten it. FYI I had this problem in an 02 S10 as well as my current Silverado 1500. The bike is an SV. If you want to buy the canyon dancer, I'll sell it. Never used, just a little dusty.

Works well on a sportbike, not necessary with your motard.
P.S. - I dont know what happened to that thread about the motard not fitting in a shiort bed truck with the tailgate closed, but ask everyone who was at VIR how well it works.![]()
nay with the motard
just use ratcheting tie downs (the ones especially designed for motorcycle use) and they'll have a nylon loop you can hook one end of the tie down into
I like my bikes like I like my wimen, nekid, they don't need a canyon g string thingie to dance in the back of a pickup
but there's no reason for a bike to be in the back of a pickup unless it's broken![]()

I vote for homemade jobbies.
Plastic coated cable with extra flexible pvc tubing over it. Loops at the ends by swaging ferrules.

How much to make me 2 sets about 15 inches long?
You could turn this into a business idea
Regarding the home made ones...
Have you tested them at high levels of stress?
Well guess you have if you have used them !
They make ones made from nylon webbing that have
pound ratings. Ancra makes these soft hook strap extensions
that are rated at 1200 lbs breaking load and 400 lbs working load.
Looking at that swagged joint makes me nervous.
I say no way on those canyon dancer things. They always fuck my grips up.

If you use the Caynon dancers correctly they shouldn't screw up your grips. Mine get screwed up on the RC all the time because I have to loop the eyelit of the caynon back around the bar end and grip which does in fact cause damage. I have tried Luvdogs method but I worried about the straps wearing down faster from friction between the two straps pulling against each other.
The new bike is great! I used four soft ties and was able to grab four points from the frame and not cause any damage to anything!!!![]()

RIP A.B. RIP BEET, I Ride in Leathers because I would rather sweat than Bleed...
I have not done any type of empirical testing on them. They have worked perfectly in operation but that doesn't mean diddly in terms of how close they have come to breaking.
Degsy, while I think it's a viable option to sell them I am weary of doing so with out any knowledge of what the yield and ultimate strength is. I will look into seeing what my school has for testing equipment.
All I've ever used is 1 set of tie-downs with built in soft hooks. I've never dropped a bike. It always cracks me up when someone brings a bike in with 5 tie downs and 20 feet of rope holding the bike in the back of a pickup. My second favorite is when the bike's tied with the kickstand down.

can't we all just get along? the snake. ssssss!
Two straps may hold a bike just fine when under normal conditions but what happens when someone cuts you off and you have to do evasive maneuvers putting all the cargo under much higher lateral acceleration.?
Jamie (saxman) and Neal (silver dragon) had both of their bikes fall out of single trailer in a very similar situation. Jamie's bike was totalled, Neal's wasn't too far off.
Thankfully no one was hurt, but learn from their lesson. Two straps for a motorcycle isn't safe. It takes only one strap to fail for it fall over or out. You have no redundancy with only two.
