    Cell Phone Experiences?

So I am doing a research paper on Cell Phone Usage and was wondering if anyone had any stories (factual) that would lend me a hand in proving that cell phone laws need to be enforced more heavily. I live in CT, so we do have a law against it. I don't care if you are in a car at the time or on a bike. Anything you have would be great!

Edit: Or if you have been driving while using a cell phone and had a close call?

    Thanks guys!

A cell phone has never tried to kill me. People breaking traffic laws, both on and off a cell phone, have though.

In a life, long time ago, I was on the phone and completely went through a red light. Lucky I didn't die.

It was absolutely due to me being distracted by the conversation and nothing else. That's the main reason I keep all calls to a minimum and try to ignore all text messages in the car.

If you're doing a research paper should you use stats and not what people say on a forum. Tigger has the market on that.

But here's astory anyway: Lady in front of me in the lane to the right drifts into my lane and I beep before impact. She swerves back. As i come along side her I see she is on the phone. She looks over and I give her the hang up hand gesture and she flips me the bird. I contemplate the insurance ramifications of driving my Jeep straight into her.

I will be using statistics, but I thought a few personal accounts would be good also to keep the paper interesting and maintain the readers attention. Thanks for the story.

why do you need more research

how about this for a Cell phone experience

FALMOUTH, Mass. — Authorities said an angry Massachusetts teen kicked his mother in the throat, head-butted his brother and punched and bit his father after his mom took away his cell phone to punish him.

The Cape Cod Times reported that Brandon Turner pleaded not guilty in Falmouth District Court on Thursday to charges that include assault and battery with a dangerous weapon.

Police said his mother took away his cell phone after he hit his 15-year-old brother Tuesday. The next day, an angry Turner attacked members of his family.

The father, a corrections officer, had to use handcuffs to subdue his 18-year-old son. Police were forced to use leg shackles to get him under control.

He was held on $1,000 bail.

It was not immediately clear if Turner has legal representation.

only thing that would have made that better is if the mother was DRIVING at the time she got throat-kicked.

She just went through all of the ways that we can cite our work for our papers...(which is the 3 millionth time I have seen this) and one of them was a personal email or web site. I could also do it as an interview...usually those are pretty credible? I don't know I was just trying to add a little bit of feeling to the paper to sway people's emotions since it is a persuasive piece.

You can definitely cite that type of stuff and add that to a paper, but don't let it take away from hard data and your interpretation of it.

    Re: Cell Phone Experiences?

Riding a dirtbike or mini at any time with a cellphone in my pocket usually guarantees it'll get broken. And I'll have a cellphone shaped bruise on my leg. It's happened 3 times.

I was on the way to the dump about an hour ago. Email chimed on my iPhone. Looked down to check it. Looked up and I had drifted into the other lane. If a car had been there it would have been bad.

It should be illegal. (FAK...sometimes I hate myself)

I was driving in L.A. and everyone was obeying the laws of the road (except for the fact that the highways have NO fast lane, every lane is the passing lane!). It was soo strange, I was having a hard time driving, because I am so use to driving with bad drivers, that driving with good ones is dangerous lol!

But for real. Driving out there in CA most of the drivers are aware of their surroundings, because their not Talking, eating, drinking, or whatever else people like to do while supposedly driving.

    Re: Cell Phone Experiences?

495s tonight in the lane shift through Lowell I can see the glow of this guy going through the address book or some BS on his large touch screen phone, makes the first lane shift, but due to distraction continues coming over and gets about 1/4 of his vehicle into my lane while I'm on the horn, causing him to then throw his phone on the seat and migrate into his lane. Before I could complete passing him (once I made sure he was at least somewhat attentive to the road) he was already pushing on the line on the other side of his lane while he was stretching over to his passenger seat retrieving the phone.

I was doing a wheelie when I got a call on my blutooth helmet. I hit the button to answer it instead of just waiting for it to automatically pick up. Well I turns out I hit a large possum causing a large bump underneath my back tire. I goosed the throttle even more with my left hand off the clutch and about 12 o'clocked it onto a cop car. Good luck with your research.

The CT law is no longer valid. I see cops on cell phones driving in that state quite often. If the cops are doing it, it must be legal!

Same thing with speeding then right?
