So I get an email from a VP at work yesterday...

Hey Peter, happy New Year to you!

... the security company that we work with over in the UK are big into motorcycle racing. The owner races and a couple of other people in the company race as well. They sponsor one of the professional racers, Guy Martin in the UK who races in the TT.

The owner sent over three DVD’s, two of which are signed by Guy Martin himself... He also sent over a beautiful book....

I would like to share these with you

Unfortunately, the DVD's are in UK format, but as far as I know they should work on my laptop.

The DVDs will be Region 2, not Region 1; therefore you will need a region-free DVD player or need to change your DVD player on your computer (which you can only usually do 5 times before it's locked).

Closer To The Edge says "Region: 2 PAL"
MotoVudu doesn't say, but I do see "PAL" under the standard "DVD Video" logo... so I'm guessing that's region 2 as well.


I suppose one option is to get an external dvd rom and use that.

EDIT: Yes, laptop has HDMI output, but I couldn't get it to full 1080p when I last plugged it into my HD tv and I couldn't zoom in on the TV either, so the picture was much smallter than the TV screen itself.

you know what actually I have some DVDs from home that I could not play on my DVD player but the PS3 was able too.. maybe that could work?

If it's Region 2 PAL you need to make sure your TV can handle PAL (which I'm sure it can).

I have a region-free DVD player I could lend you, or you could just watch it on your computer.

Got an older PS2? I have some region 2 DVDs I've played on there. I think the later models and the PS3s are supposed to be region-locked, but I haven't tried them.

Accepts component vid, s vid and rca and some kind of computer svga or something with 3 rows of 5 pins looks like.
