I PAID CASH
I HAVE A LOAN
FUCK OFF
I WHEELIED IT TO DEATH!
Who here has HONESTLY paid for their STREET bike with cash.
not your track bike/race bike, i mean your prized possession SV or Ducati, and not the POS you bought to tool around on, the bike you waited to buy or always wanted and finally go it?
and i dont care about you opinions ont he subject just be honest, and i dont care if you own the bike now because you paid the loan off faster than it had to be, i want to know how many people actually walk into a dealer and buy anywhere from 8k-20k worth of bike CASH!!!!!
All cash, all the time. I'm of the mindset that you shouldn't buy a toy unless you can pay for it in cash.
i voted i paid cash before i read new, i paid $2k cash used, whoops...
nine times out of ten its an electric razor, but...every once in a while...its a dildo. of course its company policy never to imply ownership in the event of a dildo, we have to use the indefinite article "a" dildo ...and not..."your"...dildo...
09 R1 new in March of 09, $10,950.00 Casharoo![]()
Yamaha
always paid cash
last one 08 R6v - $7500
I've paid cash for every bike I've owned (the last 2 cars too). I hate having payments.
the only normal people are the ones you don't know very well.
i wrote a check, does that count?
I bought my first bike with cash, but I financed my second bike because of a decent interest rate (under 4% for a used bike) and because I wanted to keep the money for an emergency fund for my house. I have the money to pay off the loan immediately, I'd just rather not.
Edit: I bought my dual sport toy with cash too.

'90 Yamaha XT350
Bought my 998 for cash ($8000) Sold it and am hopefully buying another one this weekend. With Cash. It's a TOY.
I financed my first Ducati back in 1995 and had it paid of in 6 months.
Then again I have never owned a brand new bike.
Now if you want to talk about my Truck...![]()

ok a little more general for those that havent voted, bottom line is 6k cash, if you have anything worth less, then its not what i would consider a big deal, but 5k is most peoples breaking point and some have enough money to drop 20k cash/CHECK on a new bike...
just trying to keep it as simple as possible to see what the spread is.
obviously there are many schools of thought on paying cash vs. financing and some will tell you that their way is the right way, but its not. the right way is being responsible with your money and no matter how you slice it owning a motorcycle is not a responsible purchase.
I paid cash for the pos that I tool around on on the street. My race bike is financed. I just didn't wanna pay all that much at once. I can ride my race bike on the street too, so there.

Close your eyes, look deep in your soul, step outside yourself and let your mind go.

Loan on my triumph. A decent rate, new house and a wedding all made me want to hold on to the cash.

Who paid cash for their bike and had to pay rent or a morgage?
Always cash, but never new. Don't think my wife would let me play if I could no afford it up front. Got my 1st bike (Honda F4) years ago with $5k I saved up waitering at Legal Seafoods in Braintree. Every bike since then has been paid for up front either from Insurance money if I crashed (yeah thats happened more than once) or I sold the bike, added some money and got a better one.
I made it to an MV Agusta on that method so I'd say it works well.
