Will need a new chain soon. 530 x 112 links.
Sprockets are good.
Do dealerships have a "spool" of chain they use? Cut to length and smash it on?
Better to call DID, Regina, etc?
Thanks
Probably not
Why just the chain ?
Especially counter shaft almost always is beat

old sprockets will wear a new chain fast.

I had the cover off to inspect the front sprocket and checked with my manual.
From what I can tell the last three years have been easy on my sprockets.
I am unable to view typical sprocket wear characteristics.
Perhaps I'll just change the whole lot?
I'd change both. They might look ok to you but they could be, and most likely are worn. 530 is strong stuff, but you don't want that 100+ dollar chain dying a premature death. Furthermore, you don't want that chain to fail while you're riding...9 times outta 10 you'll hole the case. $$$$$$$$
Pretty sure the shops around our area won't have a big spool of chain, you'll most likely have to buy a pre-cut chain @ 120 links then use a chain tool to break it / rivet on the new master.
RK, DID, EK all make excellent chains. Renthal has been in the sprocket business forever. Shop around some, you can probably do this for 200-240 bucks. You'd cringe if you called the shop and got a quote.. OEM (junk) chain and sprockets for my bike would have been $380 or so.
Come visit us and we'll set you up along with a loaner chain rivet tool. Free of charge.
I'll get you the chain and sprockets you want in 1-5 days. Internet pricing with local support.

conventional wisdom is to change the sprockets with the chain...no matter how good the old sprockets look, they have wear on them...and that's not good for a new chain.
I'm hooked up for the chain.
Thanks Ted, I'll be in touch soon.
It will be a set of sprockets and a fresh chain.
How much horsepower will this add to the bike?
Better to chrome my wheels instead...chrome rattle can caught my eye the other day.![]()
Keep it adjusted properly for maximum life
too loose and you have chain snatch and oscillations bad for everything
too tight and excessive wear on everything.
Its a Goldy Locks thing

The pain with my chain was a softness related issue with my brain.
Eccentric adjusters rotated 180 to achieve a change in rear axle height.
Bad measurement on my part last time I adjusted the chain.
Rotated the adjusters, able to use hash marks to ensure L & R sides are equal.
The noise is gone, chain lube'd and it seems typical now.
SItting on my milk crate looking at the bike this dawns on me?
I'm getting old. Maybe a shaft drive is in order?
That picture always makes me laugh...
...til I remember how sore your back was and how you manned up and rode another 200 miles to Halifax/Dartmouth by yourself...
