Well it's a fact in my book that riding a motorcycle is a full time deffensive job, and Thanks to the ERC and MSF coarses I took I came out on top after an extremely close call....
I was riding down 126 S in Framingham,MA which is a major route and the road is quite wide but still two lanes, one in either direction. Well there was a yard sale and cars on both sides of the road, which made me keep a close eye for moving tires/doors/people. Always be aware of your surroundings! So nothing odd was taking place, untill traffic started to slow and out of the corner of my eye a car immediately to my right was turning into me attempting to make an illegal u-turn, and neglected to take a good look around... Well we both locked up the brakes, I was doing about 30 MPH and she was doing 3-5 from a stand still. I locked up the brakes as hard as I could managed to veer the slightest bit to the left to try to avoid her, but not enough to have the locked up front go out from under me.. So the bike slid to a screatching stop and I was slightly leaned to the right and had to release the front brake while completely stopped reach over and push off the car in order to stay up-right and not hit her.. NO CONTACT!!!! But I was rip-shit.. She just waved and thought everything was cool.. I was yelling, told her to pay attention told her she was trying to make an illegal u-turn, I was so pissed I had to get out of there... After I cooled off and headed to meet my friend the remainder of the day was awesome, got to watch some races and see friends up at NHIS ! Then made sure to have a few pops last night!!![]()
Alls well....
THANK you MSF/ERC , I highly recommend people to take these instructional riding coarses no matter how long you have been riding! Even if you already taken them, refresh your memory, stay on your A game while riding at all times!!!! It saved me big time yesterday!!![]()

RIP A.B. RIP BEET, I Ride in Leathers because I would rather sweat than Bleed...
Good advice. Like I have seen so many times, you need to ride like all the cages are out to get you...you can't assume they are going to follow the rules. Glad it worked out well for you.
Is there any Instructors on this board. Maybe we could do an NESR safty day. Find a big empty lot and practice and learn some stuff. Just a thought.

Paul D. and I just conducted an MSF ERC in Western Mass. through Sportriders.com (SRNE). The notice was posted on this list, also.
It was a good time. Unfortunately, only 9 people signed up, so it's hard to justify putting on another one this year. Too few people are willing to spend the time and money on training (which in the case of the new ERC is half a day and $100.00). Even the draw of two MSF instructor who are also racers conducting the class wasn't enough to fill the class.
Keep an eye out for an other SRNE ERC next year.
Dam that sucks! What has been with people lately?! We need to have 2 water supplies; one for riders, and one for idiot drivers. Good drivers are welcome to drink from our water, but they need to take a test![]()

Well, we live out here, in motorcycle heaven.how about one closer to the eastern shore?Besides, a 2 hour trip for a noon start isn't much wear and tear. The ride home will be tiring, I admit.
Ken,
If you run the course again next spring I'll take it, just don't want to take it twice in the same season.
Mike good job avoiding the accident. That was a real save if you really had the front brake locked.

Half Squid, glad to hear you're ok. I don't know if we all got jinxed down at the Gap, but things have been pretty rough since we got back... I would be up for the advanced riders course, I wanted to do it this year, but the bike is still out for the count.
SV killer in training...
D*&% cagers. I was riding into the office this morning and a contruction worker cuts me off, then the passenger opens his car door, stands there with the door open and starts talking to him. I am looking at this dude like! Are people loosing their minds?
