as the title says. my boy has an R1 with a Saddlemen Tech and i rode it yesterday it was extremely comfortable!
He said it the gel gets kinda hard as the temperature drops though. I temp to ride regardless of cold or hot so it might not work out for me. http://www.corbin.com/suzuki/gsxr105.shtml

There are lots of guys our there that will reupholster your stock seat for around 100 bucks. I'm probably going to get a junk seat and try my hand at it over the winter.

anyone elses experience really has nothing to do with the shape of your ass
saddles are like helmets, people have different shaped heads and they have different shaped asses, I would try to test ride someone elses first, you may find you have a Sargent shaped ass
or you could go custom like Russel Day Long

Ive ridden some bikes with corbins and they rock on others not so much, on other bikes sargents rock and on others not so much.. as they say there is a seat for every ass and an ass for every seat. If you want a custom seat I can hook you up with MDM upholstery in MErrimack NH. He's good and a buddy. He'll insert gel or what ever you want and if you want pink alligator skin, He'll do that too.
That's a bit of a haul but I guess we can do everything via shipping
shipping works or the NESR express handoff works too.
I've been mulling this over for a while (far too long actually!) myself. The V-Strom seat isn't that great. And it is probably the last crappy thing left on this bike. I've thrown wads of money at nearly everything else.
My angle is that for what Corbin and the like charge for their mass produced seats, you might as well buck up and go full custom.
I will probably go for a Russell Day Long this winter. There are just too many very satisfied customers.
Hoping to plant my ass in Clayton's Russell equipped V-Strom one of these days before I order, just to really pound home the idea.
They even sell for reasonable money on the forums and fleabay.. even though they are custom!
You'll ride it at the Gap. Then I'll have to get prehistoric on you to get my bike back.
Russell Day Long. Everything else just is a guess at what you will find comfortable.
If I ever get another bike for commuting/distance to replace the Wee, that is my FIRST mod, hands down.

That's basically the opinion I've come down to. Tired of buying stuff that is almost. I'm hiring the expert this time.
That and I've thrown enough money at that damned bike. What's another couple hundred?! Go big or go home, eh?
The thing uses the same pan, right? Loan it to me for a day, especially if you still take two bikes and wind up on the SV for a day. Keep the bike, I already have one of those.
That would work too. But I'm more attached to that RDL than the Wee....
Yes, still taking the SV too. Brought it up to Curtis Ribs a day early
Savas, RDL is spendy, but the best you can press you shitter against.

How can someone make "custom" seat though? Like what is he gonna do different than the generic big company? Measure my ass or something?

Get the fuck out of here! That serious huh? I might have to drop the coin.
That serious.
There is another guy-or maybe the same one-where you can go visit. They will mock up a seat straight away, have you test sit it and stuff and make adjustments on the spot. Naturally you have to bring yourself and bike to some place in Indiana or whatever armpit of the universe they are based at.
But yeah.
The appeal of this Russell guy for the bikes Clayton and I have is that he does a lot of V-Strom and V-Strom-like seats. Not sure he's done any sport bike seats.
Derp.. I'm completely wrong:
Some sort of CBR:
R1:
An SV:
Although that SV has carbs.

Those are pretty much the grossest seats ever.
I'm usually a function>form kinda guy, like 99.9% of the time, but this is that .1%.
