Neck Gaiter (just in case someone wants to find one). I'm thinking of picking one up to use, and then use the balaclava when it gets really cold.
But I think we can all agree, every could use a little baclava! ;)
Just cut some eye holes. Duh.

neck gaiter lasted me last winter.
Other option is windjammer which comes from the UK, google it
I got a thin balaclava neck gaiter thing at REI for $20. Fits under the helmet no problem and goes into your jacket. I used it on the covered bridge ride and stayed warm. I had linings and leather gloves and my fingers still got cold, but my chin was warm.
This coming from someone who hates being cold for what it's worth.
I have a Windstopper balaclava that I bought at MotoMart about $30 IIRC its awesome, I've tested to -15°F its so thin it's surprising what it does, 60-65mph pace is doable in sub zero, much faster than that though, yer head starts to become a popsicle
I don't find it necessary in the only slightly cool temps, a regular thin balaclava is sufficient assuming you have a chin curtain on your helmet

ended up going with the under armour cold gear hood.

fits nice and tight. can be made into a neck gaiter, half balaclava, or full. 25 bucks. went for a quick spin tongiht, 33 degrees out. was good. the real test will be tomorrow mornings commute.
$25? nice! any chance, did you see if they make gloves too?
they did have cold gear glove liners. think of a football or baseball glove. my girl got a pair from nike that looks the same and feels the same as the UA. i may try them under my insulated winter gloves to see if i can keep my fingers from freezing.
Hood: worked fuckin fantastic. about an hour ride to work this morning. 7am no sun, 36 degrees, avg spd was 60mph all straight stuff. no cold neck or chin or face. nose was barely irritated when i got to work. 25 bucks well spent. its amazing how wind proof this stuff seems. one reason i picked this over the fleece combo ones is the tight fit. i would think the fleece ones are too loose esp with the jacket i have i would never be able to zip up.
There are other hoods that have the wind protection built in. That is KEY, the fleece doesnt do as well.
Your fingers freeze with leather gloves? Are they too tight? Mine have thinsulate in them and I don't have an issue. They aren't too tight either you need room for your body to breath and make it's own heat.
You could try some balls to keep your chin warm.
I had to. On a serious note I agree with the Balaclava. Only way to go. I used to ride year round when I worked in boston. Heated gerbings jacket liner, windproof Balaclava and heated grips you can ride comfortably down to zero degrees.

gloves are tourmaster polar tex glove.

def not too tight. i dont really feel any wind coming through either.
I have an ancient thing that velcros to my helmet bottom and tucks in my jacket works very well
I was also very curious about snowmobile helmets
Be NINJA
i was just going to try hers under my gloves. she says they do good when she runs, but i dont even need gloves when i run. riding is a different story
I wore a normal run of the mill bandana over my mouth and nose last night, like train robber style and tucked the excess into my jacket, I was quite warm. Cept my visor fogged up anytime I stopped.
I wear this... it keeps my face warm. http://a763.g.akamai.net/7/763/1644/...88230/size/250
