Over to the dark side for a day

Well, with nothing to do down here in the land of Wal-Mart, I decided to check into renting a bike. Bummer that none of the sportbike shops in the area do this.

So, I checked out Pig Trail HD in Rogers, AR yesterday and was informed that they were doing demo rides Saturday(today).

I got to ride some of the 09 models, including the V-Rod Muscle, Fat Bob Screaming Eagle, and the Rocker C. I have to say that I am a little surprised at how the V-Rod and Rocker rode. The Fat Bob, to me, seemed to live up to the HD image, the one where you get shaken apart as you ride.

But the V-Rod was really smooth, thanks to the Revolution motor and the Rocker was just a nice ride. I am actually a little shocked that of the 3, I like the bike with the longest rake the best. Both the V-Rod and Rock have a 240 rear tire and both handle really well, but the V-Rod out-performs the Rocker, with its 1250cc motor.

Anyway, here are some crummy camera phone pics. It was worth it saying I rode a Harley, once and a great way to spend a day. Lots of great people, free grub, decent tunes, and got to ride for free.

Just kidding... Sounds like fun. A friend of mine destroyed his knee and can't comfortably ride sportbikes anymore. He bought a V-Rod last year, and says it is the most fun he has had since making the switch to cruisers.

Chuck...are you really in Arkansas...or Oregon???

PORTLAND, Ore. — Portland Police took a waterfront Manly Godiva down a notch this week.

    Barely.

They were getting calls about a nude on-line skater whizzing past tourists and rush-hour commuters.

But you can do that in Oregon, where occasional nude bike rides draw police only for crowd control and shows featuring live sex acts are protected as free speech.

The skater, Chuck Boucher, aka Earth Friend Chuck, asked organizers for permission this summer to skate naked in the city of Ashland's Fourth of July parade. He didn't get it.

Police here told him to tone it down after construction workers complained.

Boucher donned a string bikini bottom for the nonce and skated on.

Police say most callers are concerned about his safety but were also quick to comment: "It appears Mr. Boucher has been working out some."

I wish I could afford a new HD. Imagine the sportbikes I could buy with that money.

I rode a V-Rod with the sport bike-style pegs and bars. I was pretty impressed. It's not a rocket, but not bad for a fun bike.
