how do you like your R6

ok im going to be buying a different bike for myself and sell ine to a buddie and im looking at an 02 R6. for people who own them how do you like them? hows the power?

I have a 01 R6, the power is pretty similar to other 600's. But the best thing about the 99-02 R6's compared to the 03-08 versions is the older ones seems to have a lot more power in the lower to mid ranges. Which IMO is better for the street.

best thing i ever did to the 01 was go 1 down in the front - an all around great bike for me at the time - commuting, weekend twisties and trackdays

fyi - 99-02 is carbed (some people care)

Not that my bikes help much at all, but i've two second gen R6's....an 05 for the street and an 06 R6"S" (remake of the 04) for the track and I love them both.

Heres a quote from PK about the first gen R6....

The 99-02 R6 has a major flaw in the geometry, it's the same flaw as the Triumph 675. They used 40 mm clamp off sets to reduce trail. The problem is that, although the bike flicks in to the corner easily, as soon as the bike starts to lean in you lose feel and grip. To fix this we had to extend the forks, raise the front way up, and balance the swing arm angle between exit grip and mid corner feel.

Love the R6 did some mods and it is an all around great bike ...unfortunitly i have bought another toy that i enjoy more... so my 2000 will be up for sale shortly.. have the R1 in the Shed if i have the craving...

i had an 02. It was great. Minor mods enhance it a lot. Here's mine.
(Sticker kits add 5rwhp) If you end up getting it, i can probly dig around and find some goodies.

I rode mine in the parking lot I bought it in, and up and down my parents street (02 R6 Track bike). Hope to have more info come the first track day this year

I love my r6...I have a 2004 ...this summer I'm going 1 down in the front..and throwing a power commander in!! Love my r6 and will never get rid of it
