most car and truck rental stores already have such a system that if you go " x " over the limit they automaticly tack on the ticket to your credit card and you get the pay stub a week later in the mail. plus they hike up the rates on you next rental cause they see you as a hazard![]()

If the 6 speed in the new GTO is the same one that I have in my TA, there is a 2nd gear "skip shift" that pushes the shifter over to 4th in a 1st to 2nd shift at certain engine speed and throttle settings. The easy way around it is to accelerate harder in first and it doesn't come on. It is some sort of fuel economy thingy and truly irritating in traffic.
Just think what they can do with the "fly by wire" throttle control systems in newer cars. There isn't even a mechanical linkage between your foot and the throttle plates.
jegs makes a skip shift kit that plugs into your tranns and eliminates the light and lets you run all the gears the way it was made to
Or you can open up the ecu and clip a wire or two for free. I recommend find out which ones to clip first as I did.Originally posted by putinitup

The device mentioned in the article isn't a speed limiter guys. It just makes it harder to push the gas to prevent someone from absent minded speeding. If you mash the gas to pass someone I don't think a little extra resistance is going to slow you down.
I'm actually for this mod. My clutch leg is buff and my go-pedal leg is a wuss. I look at it as a health feature to keep me outta the gym.

some rental company did that in CT. if i remember right they got in trouble for it. either being it wasnt disclosed in the rental contract or they do not have the right to impose speeding finesOriginally posted by putinitup
