that is still a bit far for me (2.5 hours), if there were a dealer within an hour or so i would consider one, i love them.
Re: Ducati, BMW or Aprillia?
OK, so in an effort to help you decide on a brand of bike...Ask yourself this:
When someone asks you what kind of bke is that.....do you want to say bmw? Do you want to have to repeat yourself when you say aprillia, because they wont know that one...or do you really just want to say DUCATI...with that lil grin as you watch the persons eyes light up??
/endthread. LOL

Or the smarter thing, buy 2 R1's and an R6 for the same money as you're already spending, then when your friend/family gets more comfortable with riding after the 600, you'll have the 2nd R1 when they are ready for more power:hbang2:
would an R6 or a CBR600RR be a little too much for a modestly skilled rider?
Re: Ducati, BMW or Aprillia?
I own an Aprilia and I like the fact that people don't know what it is but fascinated enough to want to ask questions about it.

Doesn't it really depend on the rider and situation? R6 on a straight road at 7K RPM, maybe not, in the twisties at 14K RPM maybe so.
You can have a bad moment on a 250 Ninja if you aren't careful. Maybe a handfull of throttle won't have the same impact that it would on a literbike, but coming around a corner faster than you should be and seeing some problem on the road around doesn't discriminate based on displacement.
