I'm considering getting a Hypermotard. Any thoughts on the bike in terms of reliability, handling, etc.? It's strictly for the street.

I rode Keiths ( R1 here on NESR ) If I wasn't looking to get payment free. I'd be signing up for one. It's a great ride. Super power and comfortable.
awesome street/hooligan bike
Mine was a little twitchy on the gas but it had a ton of throttle slop and a loose chain. I've adjusted and might go for a ride today and i'm sure its better now. Also I'm not quite used to the v-twin yet.
Torque all over the place... and it's a 2v so maintenance is tit from what I understand. Not sure why everyone goes on and on about ducati maintenance... every couple of oil changes just check your valve clearances and belt tension. I haven't done those yet, but from what I can tell, big fuckin deal
All in all.... love it.

Awesome bike!
if you haven't gotten to ride one yet, let me know. my bikes all need one last ride before the end of the season prep so id be more than happy to let you take the hyper for a spin
I haven't seen much in terms of reliability. it only haas 2k miles. the valve checks and adjustments are at 7500 intervals. oil changes are supposed to be able to go 5000 miles. at 2k i dont have one complaint about this bike other than i wish i would ride it more
handling i would say is a cross between a motard and a sport bike. its not as nimble as a motard but the power more than makes up for it. it handles better than my r1 or my gsxr600. at least in terms of god back roads and generally not having to go 600mph to utilize every inch of tire. then there is comfort which typically is not something you get with either a motard or a sport bike, but this bike is comfortable. ducati has 3 seats to choose from then there are also other manufacturers.
I have wanted this bike since it came out and now that i have had the chance to ride it for a season its the best bike i have EVER ridden bar none.
AS for the hooligan side, yup its fun.
Keith
great handling, comfortable, powerful, FUN, WHEELIES!!!!!

Thanks...that's my sense, although I only had a short stint on the bike. The ebay price is really good. I'm going to NYC next week for some ink.![]()

the only downside is fuel range which is 100 mile fill ups with conservative use of the throttle which i have never seen.
i typically see about 80 mile fill ups...
there is a company that makes a bigger gas tank but make sure you read up on it, it will increase the range but it needs a decent amount of mods to fit.
goodluck
my offer is always open if you wanna take it for a rip through some decent roads.
Maybe it's just me Keith, but I've hit 100 miles without the fuel light even going on... and I definitely haven't been riding her lightly

Live life to its fullest, you never know when you'll get a second chance.
I have a 2008 'S'. Most fun / best bike I've ever owned, without question.
No issues at all, other than I didn't like the Pirellis in the rain. Changed to Michelin Pilot Powers and life is good.
Comfortable, awesome power, and it's a Ducati. Buy one.
