Question live in mass- buy in N.H.

If you live in mass, but buy the bike in N.H. do you pay sales tax? N.H. has no sales tax but they would be selling to a mass resident- When I bought my '07 GSXR600 in Ohio, I bought it in a different county than which I lived so the calculated the tax using the rate of the county in which I lived.

You must reg the bike in NH for six months before swapping over to mass to aviod sales tax.. I just went through this, and got this info from both the RMV website and the mouth of someone at the RMV... It goes for any auto bought outa state..

Unless you got an address in NH to register it to you're kinda screwed.

i've always wondered about NH and VT when it comes to registering any vehicle there. do they let you use a PO box or equivalent? does it have to be a real address (i guess what i'm asking is do they check?)

yes: you will pay 5% of the purchase price or blue book value (whichever's higher) in sales tax to the DMV when you go to register the vehicle

You have to have a NH adress to reg it under, thus having a NH license.. So no..

Believe me ... you don't want to screw with the taxman.

Pay the tax when you register it.

If you get caught with a PO box number and NH plates on your car,
the mass taxman is gonna stretch out your rectum so bad that you
will have to wear diapers for the rest of your life.

Go to any newspaper site and search for illegal vehicle registrations
by mass residents. They are on the lookout ...

I have my vehicles registered in Maine because I was a student at UMass and when I got pulled over it was 20 questions about why I was in Mass, especially when I was somewhere that wasn't close to school. Better off not taking the chance.

My bike was bought and is registered in NH - just paid $180 to register it. They don't charge tax but they get you in other ways

I bought mine in NH and registered it in MA. Forget the sales tax and registration fees, but it was around $350 total I think.

On top of that, if your bike ever gets stolen, or totalled, and the insurance company sees you're a MA resident, but have the bike insured in NH, there's a good chance they won't pay the claim.

It's not worth it just to save a few hundred bucks.
