    CT "Stop Light Cameras" BS

    Just saw TV about

    Stop Light Cams

    well

THEY ARE SPEED CAMERAS capable of taking your license as soon as your theiving legislators give the go ahead

Guess what they are in towns on little roads not the I don't do 95 so what do I care.

So sheep write complain or do the speed limit or get your insurance doubled and license revoked.

We will all have to get gps raday detectors for everything

They are only the size of a large box so guaranteed portable units will pop up the next day.

They admits its for revenue nothing more. They get 3 to 400 dollars and you get to pay 3000 more for insurane.

Is there a website where we can see a list of where these cameras are?
How about the GPS radar? I think I'll need one of those. There are cameras all over Brighton, but they have not been using them, YET.

I believe the way most of the automated speed/stop light cams work is they send a ticket to the vehicle owner. I don't believe the ticket carries any points though for the exact reason that they can't prove who was driving it. Not sure what that would mean for insurance though.

In Arizona they have these EVERYWHERE. They have a camera on every stop light and portable units on all the highways. You are driving along minding your business and just see a flash and you are nailed. Expect a nice piece of mail in two or three weeks. The way they issue the ticket is to the vehicle owner and if they werent driving they must provide all contact info of the person who was or they assume the responsibility themselves.

I got a speeding ticket for doing 52 in a 35 a couple weeks back while test driving a Mustang but plead "Not Guilty". AFAIK if the cop doesn't show up at the court date the ticket expires.

How can they put points on the license if you never actually plead guilty? Gotta be the same way or even easier with camera tickets iyam

The only saving grace is I think these units seemed to take their pics at the front of the vehicle (seem). So bikes without front plate would be cool

Until they demand we have a front plate

MY horror is the poor schlep commuter who goes to work everyday
and robo tax collector takes 2 weeks till the 1st of 7 tickets arrive. By the time he knows anything his license is revoked.

The speed limits are a joke and if they force the citizens to go that slow it is like reducing the amount of roads by 40%. Expect your commute to almost double and many accidents as the guy infront sees the box and slams on his brakes.

Remind your legislators of the above and.

The purpose of the road and highway system is the rapid movement of people and goods...... This perverts this

i'd be delighted if i could go even 10 mph below the posted speed limit during rush hour. when traffic is going 15 to 20 mph tops on a major divided highway, the last thing anyone is concerned about getting is a speeding ticket.

What do you mean? Usually when you show up to court first in CT the cop won't be there anyway unless you request to go to trial. Even if the cop doesn't show up that doesn't mean they're letting you off the hook.

Are you sure? I know Top Gear did an episode about this. First flash is you setting off the speed sensor, then when you go by it snaps a pic of your rear plate. They were trying to figure out how fast you have to go to evade the camera shot haha. Then again this was a couple years back and a british system so who knows.

Re: CT "Stop Light Cameras" BS

the city i'm from in brazil uses cameras, both mobile devices that are set-up in different locations (though those locations are pretty standard and used often) and fixed pole-like units with a box on top.

I'll give you one benefit of it- cops don't pull you over for speeding. That will probably still happen here, but in Sao Paulo the city is so big that cops have other things to worry about than pulling people over, it's a waste of time.
Another benefit is I (and most residents) know where all the cameras are, so instead of slamming on the brakes there's a gradual decrease in speed since everyone "learns" about them.

some of them are placed in dangerous areas, such as steep declines with a tight curve... highways there are different, there are more twists and areas where you really do need to slow down. But the majority are just spread around the highway but you learn where they are and it really doesn't cause traffic to stall or anything...

I agree that it's a horrible idea for the US because the average speed driven here is much higher and the limit is proportionally too low. If these cameras would prevent cops from pulling you over for speeding then I'm all for it, but I know that they don't have anything better to do.

I could definitely be wrong here, just my cousin told me he got off the because the cop didn't show up or something. I'm still waiting for a court date.

And my cousin got off because the cop transposed two numbers when copying down his driver's license number. What a country!

Easy, don't mount a license plate and make sure you carry it with a plate screw and no nut. If you get pulled over and want to stop use the "it just fell off I will mount it as soon as I get home". If you don't want to stop you have no license plate.

Option 2 save the racing for the track and the woods.

Yeah I think that's the problem most people are worried about. That and them putting them on their favorite back road.

It would be bank for them though to have a pack of 20 cars go by at 75 and ticket them all
