Re: Where are the female sportbike riders in New England?
I have a co-worker who is interested in getting her license and a bike. She's going to sign up for an MSF course soon. But she has many questions on riding gear, selecting a bike, etc, etc.
I've suggested she stop by one of the European Bike Nights at Moto Market [Thursdays] to see what's going on and ask questions and look at gear.
Any other suggestions of where she could go to learn more, perhaps meet other riders?

If she's from the area, bike night in Lowell on Tuesdays.

Absolute last place I'd send her to learn anything about women's bikes or riding gear.

She could learn about vests there. :poke:

Re: Where are the female sportbike riders in New England?
Uh... Or she can come find & talk to Rachel, Jesse, Vicki, Jackie, Suzy or any other one of the NESR girls that's typically there on any given Tuesday :poke:

Or get her to join here.
You know, we aren't all bike candy. Some of us are even allowed out of the kitchen.

Re: Where are the female sportbike riders in New England?
Right, join NESR. As to places to go, talk to Paul at MM on a weekday when he's not mobbed, but she shouldn't bother with Thursday nights, 99% old farts and assorted gasbags, and only maybe one or two women show up. And go to Seacoast Sport Cycle, always worth the trip.

Gotta be honest. I kinda miss hitting on New Chick.

Because she hasn't taken MSF, bought any gear, or so much as sat on a bike yet let alone bought one?
There are a LOT of stereotypical "bikers" there. You are looking at it from your own perspective, not from the perspective of someone who is trying to decide how this might fit into her life.
The riders she works with are all Sporty or touring bike riders who wear helmets if not full gear. She has a friend who is trying to convince her that a flat black half helmet is all the gear she needs.
Maybe a dealer other than HD will start hosting events for women, by women.

As one of the MCN volunteers, I know we cater to more than stereotypical bikers. It is also a public event where motorcyclists of all walks of life are invited. We have vendors like Twisted Throttle, Motocycles of Manchester, Naults, Billerica Motorsports, Plaistow Powersports to name a few. These vendors a lot of time will bring gear or motorcycles aimed at first time riders and or Women.
Yes, we get the clubs that show up that don't ride as geared up as you would but don't be a hater.( or a freaking gear Nazi ) With the exception of the 1% clubs I've never seen anyone not answer a question about their ride or their gear.
OH and Motorcycles of Manchester just had a VERY successful Ladies Night.
