In all honesty, it's in OK shape.... needs a lil' TLC. The guy I bought it from had purchased it in '04 from the original owner so he could ride with his buddy. His friend started polishing the frame, got the right side done, then died in a motorcycle accident that year. So the left side never got done, and the guy I bought it from basically stopped riding afterwards. He said he put maybe 60 miles on the bike after the accident. Looks as if it has been sitting outside for at least a lil' bit(not the winter, but it HAS spent some time outdoors), even though he claims it was kept in a garage. I'm gonna tear it down most likely this weekend, polish the shit out of the plastics and tank, change the oil, make sure everything it tight and lubed correctly(rear shock has a squeaking sound), and throw it all back together. I need a new front brake lever and the front tire doesn't look so great(rear is brand new). Also didn't come with the rear hump, just the seatAll in all I think I'll be able to dump maybe $200 into it and it'll be right where I want it.
Looks great! Congratulations! Its worth putting money into whatever it needs. You're going to love it.
TL1000R --- For those who like to drive high speed tanks
sweet bike...looks good...and great timing
you can't go wrong w' that color scheme
umm...is it lowered?
I would tear that headlight cover shit off ASAP. I put it on my Superhawk years back and it cut down on my visible light a ton. I thought I was seeing things till I took it off a week later and felt like I had high beams on!
Congrats. 1000 twins rule.

That's the first TL I've seen without the hump, and it like 100x better than the humps!

How are the ergonomics on the TLR compared to a GSXR? Any better for a taller rider?
2004 GSXR 600
It's tough to say.... I haven't been on my old gsxr since December/january, and since have been riding an r1100rt... my initial reaction was damn this is an aggressive position, but it might just be due to my riding a touring bike recently...
I just looked at the pictures again.......nice cans.
Are you talking to Doc??![]()
If you need any help let me know i'm a pro with these now I've torn mine completely down and backtogether, The squeaking shock is a typical problem, you gotta take all the linkages and moving parts and use some Neverseize or Lithium grease on them.. I got sucked in to the TL Cult and I've spent between $3500 and $4000 this winter, not to mention the little I spent when i got it last summer..
Looks great! Post more pics once she's all blinged up...
Nice find! You are going to be hooked on the V-Twin Power!!!
Looks like it's in great shape, enjoy it!
I still haven't decided what the heck I am doing, if I am getting something new?![]()

RIP A.B. RIP BEET, I Ride in Leathers because I would rather sweat than Bleed...
2000 was the best year for the blue/white color scheme. Sweet pick!
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
Well thanks for all the compliments guys.... the bike is being thoroughly gone over all day Saturday, probably starting at 10am including an oil change, new choke cable(was wondering why the choke wasn't working, the cable's snapped!), replacing the broken front brake lever, plugs, air filter(depending on the condition of the one in there) and a shitload of cleaning. If any of you TL enthusiasts wanna cruise over and check it out, offer some input/suggestions, you're more than welcome. This is my first TL and don't really know a whole lot about the bike. I'd like to do a throttle body synch as well if I can get my hands on the tool to do it.
Get on TLZone for info (if you're not on there already). Be careful though, you will wake up days later in a haze with your wallet empty, credit card maxed and UPS guy knocking on your door.
I grew up and currently work in Westboro (no longer live there). Are you a townie?
I replaced my fast idle cable too; it was completely seized. Definitely look at the TRE, wiring (ground and +mod), airbox mod and PAIR system removal. All those mods an be done for <$100 total, and are beneficial IMO. Search TLZone - there are many threads. Drop me a line if you have a Q.
I'm kinda a townie, I've been here since I was 13, but went to St. John's for high school, so I'm kinda set apart from a lot of the locals. I've looked on tlzone, but have been reading through tlplanet more for some reason. As of now I'm more concerned with getting everything sorted out as to make the bike perfect, then I can go in and start modding. One thing that caught my eye is that the wiring looks like it has been pulled out from the left front fairing near the gauges, as if someone pulled it to take a look at something and never tucked it back in. There is one small connector with brown wires going into it that's disconnected as well, which I want to figure out Saturday as well.
Where in Westboro do you work?
I work at EMC, you prob. know where that is. I used to live off of Flanders Rd...that side of town.
Feel free to send a pic of that electrical connector. I do believe that there is an unused plug up front, not sure if thats the one you're seeing tho. The factory manual is available for DL on TLZone. Definitely get that.
I would consider doing the wiring mod - the harness is definitely a weak point. Not hard, just takes some time.
Hahahaha I work at EMC for corporate security in Hopkinton. That's funny.
