Not to impede on the NESR powers that be, but apparently this needs to be said.
This post is to serve as a reminder that ALL NESR members (and the people that are with them) represent NESR, ESPECIALLY when we are out in public in large groups. Forum members should be greatful to buisiness owners that cater to our large, rambunctious groups and thank those businesses accordingly.
Thank you.
I could very easily leave this post at that, but since I'm sure there will be a lot of enquiring minds, here's the back-story:
As a lot of us here know, a good portion of the NESR members that attend Lowell Bike Night head to a local Chinese food restaurant after we've had our fill of bike watching. Even though I've only gone a couple of times I think I can speak for all of us when I say that that the restarant owners & employees of this particular establishment treat us VERY well![]()
Well, last night the owner approached a couple of us and informed us that last time we were there someone had ALEGIDLY picked up all of the cash that we had left on the table, shorting him over 100 dollars on our bill.
Needless to say there were many appologies and things were made right.
I dunno know about you, but I don't like being "forced" to leave a 15 dollar tip on a 30 dollar bill to make up for someone else's "mistake" (if it did in fact happen). I'd much rather do that because I'm feeling exceptionally generous.
Lastly, I don't think any of us here need to discuss the who/what/when/where/why/how of all this as the details are way too vague for any of us to speculate or point fingers. That's not what this thread is about. If that's what this turns into then I'll simply delete the thread, post a new one and have a forum admin lock the thread before it can fall apart again.

Agreed, the owners of the restaurant are very accomodating to us and it's sad to hear that it happened.
I talked to Wayne after everyone left last night. He IS NOT upset at all with us as a group. He believes it was a misunderstanding, and thinks that us all showing up is great and we are alot of fun. That being said he was sad to hear that bike nights were over for this year, yet hes excited for next spring/summer. Thanks to everyone and I hope we can start this up again next year.
Nick
Yeah... I left a $15 tip on a $6 bill last night. Thanks for saying something Pete. I was going to when I got home last night, but I was in such a foul mood that I thought better of it.
I'd also like to ask that you guys are more courteous when leaving on your bikes. Not only are your tires cold, but there's often water in the parking lot. I can't see a reason why you need to haul ass out of the parking lot. I don't want to draw any unwanted attention from the powers that be. Wayne has been incredibly good to us, I'd like to return the favor.

AH yes, thank you J I totally forgot about that, when I went back in to talk to Wayne he asked if that was "us" leaving so loudly. Didn't say anything about it, just asked. I first hand found out how bad the cold tires + cold pavement = scratches is.... please be careful... (wow i sound like a dad)
Nick
cold tires are the devil
Wow![]()
That is unacceptable
Not sure myself what happened last time. For some reason i got stuck paying $108 plus a $20 tip, when i only had 4 beers and Nicole had 3 drinks and soup. I was told later that some people didnt pay there bill and it got tacked onto mine. I still have the slip.
Mark gave me some money when i paid the tab and said this is from some of the people here to go towards the tab but it was only $13.
We had a good thing goin when we first started going there back when it was me, Nick, Rob and Jackie. We would take turns picking up the tab. It wasnt so bad with 4 but 10, thats alot. I think from now on i'll get my own tab.

Last night was my first and only time at the 'Gahden' Who can I send $ to? (and I didn't eat a thing and someone
thrust a beer into my hand.. so who do I owe???)And sorry about the heavy on the throttle when I left.
Doug
edit: Edit: nevermind!
that's awful that someone would do that!! especially to other forum members and an establishment that treated us so well. granted i only went last night, but that guy was fantastic! from what i could tell, even though we were by far the craziest galoots in the place, we got treated no differently, or even better, than the cash customers at the bar. and he was the only one working!
please everyone keep in mind that it takes a lot nowadays to make a good living and we want to represent not just NESR but the whole riding community in a good light.
i do hope we can do this again next year.

If you run into a wall with a helmet on, you still ran into a wall.
I'll still be there on Tuesdays. I'll ride til it snows, then drive. Their food is awesome.

This is some foul shit, The fact of the matter is someone in attendance stiffed you people and there is no excuse for that. so it should not be too hard to figure out who did, and if it was a HONEST mistake then its water under the bridge.
*disclaimer! I am not talking about the money issue, mistakes are made everyday*
its not the restaurant you need to think about. its the families that live across from the garden they are the ones who call in noise complaints. keep in mind when they are unhappy not only will they make it harder in my friggin neighborhood for bikers but it will further any problems that they may have with the garden and the garden has been around along long time.
dont take this the wrong way please. I am just letting you know from the other end as someone who lives really really close to the people who try everything they can to make life harder for others.

Heres a condom. I figured since youre acting like a dick, you should dress like one too.
That shit is not good. That's why I always get my shit from the bar when with large groups of people. I've been burned far to many times. Sorry for you guys that had to pick up the big tabs, people can suck.

does anybody else still go... seems to me like bike night is just something we do before the real fun starts at the resturant (not that bike night doesn't kick ass). if people are still interested in going there on tuesday nights i would totaly ride down there and hang out with you guys.
sorry... thought it was free money so i stick it in my pocket.
"fuckit!"
It is sad to hear such a thing. I had got there late and had a seperate bill which I took care of seperately.
This might sound like a weird idea but this is what we did on a 5 day biking tour. We took a deposit from everyone. All the bills were paid for from that pool and anything extra or really expensive you order (e.g. Steak - you pay CASH) but usually everyone was eating for around the same amount - also we never had alcohol which is the biggest cost driver. We would often leave generous tip becos they have to be accomodating with all the noise and all our gear lying around the place. I do not know..its a different country and different culture and most people use credit cards....
But still having a pool will reduces individual risk like what happened with Steve in above case. I do not mind paying for a friend but I should do it from will and not having to be forced becos someone was irresponsible.
Everyone I have met at NESR is generous but there are Douchebags everywhere....
