Woodcraft is very high quality stuff that has been tried and tested. If you don't mind spending some $ for good protection, then that is the way to go!

They can be (but I also use them because they WORK. I slid my SV in the bowl at NHMS last year and only had a few scratches.)

you have an SV - Motosliders or nothing. They bolt on with one straight bolt through the frame and engine. Nothing beats them. Check out svrider.com while you are at it.

With a naked/half-faired bike like the SV, your options are basically limitless. But I'm somebody that has absolutely zero interest in cutting holes in my stock bodywork, so I've had to look for mfgs that actually do the legwork to engineer proper brackets that allow for good slider location. A lot of brands (like Woodcraft, LSL, Lockhart Philips, Pro-Tek, etc) simply don't do that. So I can only talk about the two brands I've been able to use.

On my 650R, I went with R&G sliders, and I can tell you for a fact that they work VERY well. The nylon puck did exactly what it was supposed to, and showed only slight signs of wear. But I wanted to keep the look new/clean, so I ordered a new puck and it was extremely easy to replace.

On my new bike, it was a lot harder to find decent ones that didn't require chopping up the plastic, but Motovation Accessories designed a great kit. Their brackets are a great heavy duty design (enough to make an engineer smile), and the pucks have an amazing feel of quality to them. They also mount to the strongest points of the frame (not the motor), so I can trust they'll do their job if needed.

Just don't by the cheapo $30-40 special, and in your case something like Woodcraft may be a good option.

Believe me, having crashed my SV with Woodcraft sliders and only having to replace hard parts that also slid (brake lever, rearset peg, spool slider), I'll never buy another brand.

All of the parts performed just as they were designed. Only $80 later. Compare that to punctured parts from no-cut sliders, because their brackets bent into parts they shouldn't.

Don't go for the cosmetic shit. If they require cutting, then do it. Or have someone do it for you. You won't be sorry.

Not all "no-cut" sliders are pieces of shit. The ones with a well designed bracket kit (not some shitty L-bracket job) will hold up better than simple head-bolt mounts. The extra cost for the quality design is well worth it.

Many who have used woodcraft sliders on the SV suffer from radiator damage in the smallest of drops. These are why the Motosliders excel - they are made for the SV. Use them or don't use them. After all it is not my bike.

I am sure that woodcraft would do you fine if you choose that route. Good luck either way.

I like my Motovation frame sliders on the R1. Quality stuff IMO. Or you can opt for some sweet skate board wheel sliders like on the Motard.

woodcraft. bike came with Vortex and they were lot longer than Woodcraft which made me think they kept more of the bike off the pavement - wrong. What it did was bend my R6 motor mount when I went "off road" and also strip the threads in the motor. went down bunch o times with WC's and never had a problem. Woodcraft are the only rear sets I would consider also

No biggie. I installed Pro-Tec on the 900RR. Annalisa dropped it form a standstill and not one bit of damage to the plastic. Just a little nick out of the slider and the right-side mirror folded in with a little scratch to the outside plastic.

And for the record, I don't like Woodcraft sliders just for the name. I like the solid puck design, which most others don 't offer. More surface means longer slide wear before the puck is useless.
