It really doesn't matter what people think about you in real life when you are trying to sell yourself on a public message board. Until people from the board start meeting you in person, you have to sell yourself through the words and ideas you post. To date, you have not presented yourself in a manner that shows your mature and responsible side. Your spelling and grammar may be inhibited by dyslexia, but it has nothing to do with why people perceive you to be an asshat.

Not sure where you plan on working but most shops start you at anywhere between $10-$14 per hour if your lucky. I know guys that have been wrenching for years and only make like $18 and hour. The demand for Motorcycle mechanics is not really out there unless you have a specialty and even then it is tough. Just some food for thought.

Another thing to consider is that even if you can make more than the 'average book smart college student' out of school, that may change drastically over time.
It is not uncommon for recent graduates of some fields make 300% their normal pay in 5-10 years, i.e. start at 30k then end up at 90k.
This is not to suggest that it's a bad idea to pursue one's dreams, but don't let the lure of 'easy money' fog up the mental windshield.
If I was going to pick up a trade I would probably become either a mason, landscaper, or plumber...electrician maybe?

I am not trying to pursuade him from going to school to become a Mechanic, I have friends that do it and love it. They end up supplementing their income by picking up side work. Just trying to point out that its not as much money as he seems to think.

btw on the trades man pay scale it sucks, i had no choice of college so out of trade school i went to work. only 7 years latter i wish i went to more school, im an electrician and believe me its no gravy train:dunno:
