My friend's restoration shop in England

I bumped into an old friend of mine on my trip back home (in a pub, fancy that!!). We haven't see each other since we were 11 or 12 years old, but our mothers are very good friends. My buddy Dean went over to India in his teens and travelled to China, US etc all his life. He spent years in India and got into old British bikes in a big way. I always rememebr his father built choppers in their garage when we were kids. serious choppers. Triumph motors, hard tails, REAL choppers, not these Orange County/Jesse James shit machines.

Anyway, it turns out Dean and his dad now run a motorcycle restoration and sales business out on a farm about 20 miles from my home town, so I took a ride out there with my parents and little brother to have a poke around and check out the bikes.

HOLY SHIT!!!! It is an alladin's cave of Brough superiors, Triumphs, Nortons, Ariels etc. You name it, they have it. Their parts area is freaking HUGE. They have copy parts made in india that you cannot tell from the originals (tanks etc). they are hand-hammered from sheet and look beautiful. Here's a couple of pics of what they have right now.

couple more pics. Couple of restored 1950's Triumphs. A half done Ariel square-four and his Royal Enfield. The Enfield came back from India with him and he restored it here. It gets ridden most days and is street-legal and registered.

Check out the crankcase breather on the Royal Enfield. LOL. Dumps excess oil out the back. He should route it to his chain!!

By the way everyone. They are interested in old British bike parts. they say that America has way more than the UK does and they will buy pretty much anything British from the 1930's through 1970's.

My first bike, a 1973 Triumph Bonneville, also had the breather tube running along the rear fender like that.

My bike had no blow-by problem, so there was never any mess. Cool bikes Degs, thanks for sharing!

These were real popular until someone got into a minor fender bender and received the world's first "tank rack vasectomy." Believe there was a nasty lawsuit against Triumph USA and the racks disappeared soon after...
