I miss my gixxer sixxer that I swear only got like 100 miles a tank, so I felt like a Brandi Badass filling up a couple times.
Now I see bikes like the Africa Twin Adventure Sport with alleged 300+ tank capacity and know I’ll feel like a poser going on quick jaunts and having the gas gauge not move.
But hey, life changes and I’m a drunk now. Sitting on my porch like Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino took the place of pleasure rides ♀️
I got 300/tank out of the v-strom. Kinda miss that bike
Good times at the hill climbs yesterday. Decent turnout, pretty tame crowd, decent food & beer options if that's your thing.
Competitor of the day was the nitromethane dirtbike hill climber. Made it up in about 7 seconds flat. I suspect it would have been quicker if he got a better start though.
Class of the day was the little kids on the 85's (or whatever). They were an absolute blast to watch.
Stunt show was meh. A handful of guys on Harleys doing rolling burnouts & wheelies. They really didn't have all that much space available to work with though, so I'll give 'em that. Really wasn't awe inspiring though.
Funny though how a pandemic turns Gunstock from "no, we don't want that here anymore" to "please come back, we'll open all our doors for you this year".
Ran into a couple people we know, but didn't cross paths with anyone from here. All in all, it was a good time. We weren't drinking, but they kept the beer coolers stocked & sales flowing. There wasn't many vendors at all other than food, and they had a decent selection of that.
Anyone else make it up for that?
Ha ha! We've been taking Canaan around to different off-road racing events to see what he'd most like to try his hand at. He'd love to try a hill climb, but I'm pretty sure his attention for now is motocross and/or ATV racing. We missed the Jolly Rogers ATV event last weekend, but we'll be making one next month.
Those kids were the best thing going all day. Fearless for sure, albeit WAY underpowered. If I remember though, a few of them made it pretty far. Cheryl said one of the midgets made it to the top, but I don't remember that one.
I'm guessing the nitromethane bike would have done a flat 6 seconds if he got a better start. There were a couple bikes that got damn close to his time.
Bummed we didn't cross paths. Would've been cool to see you again. It's been FAR too long.
My daughter was there with a group of friends. Racers paid a tribute to her friend that used to compete in the hill climb. Jake died in a tragic, bizarre accident last year.

The nitro bike went over the first jump too fast and his back wheel went about 4 ft in the air. The trick was to keep the back wheel on the ground to get speed for the second jump and hill. I noticed a Tyler Sweeney there. He had to be Tyler from Loudon days. I didn't watch the burnout crap. I didn't want to breath that crap. I got up front and center for the competition. Got hit by some rocks. I was the only masked guy there. Saw a few ski instructors there I know from Gunstock......Thanks Gumby for that link explaining more. 11 revs.
Watched some of the hillclimbs on Kaplan's you tube channel. Looked like fun. Love the CR500 powered climbers.
Kaplan America rolled through the pits on some turbocharged cruiser. Great week there. Did the advanced school wed thurs. couple friends got their race licenses and placed first and second in their first two races. First time riding loudon since like 2009. Really liked it. Having good suspension helps. Saw timmyduck working the corner.
Bingo :yesway:
No problem. The world could use a little kindness.
Jake's cousin/best friend who survived the collision has been making great strides with his recovery.

I was on a blue 03 r1. Vinyl track body. There was someone out there ripping on a center tail exhaust bike. Wasn’t sure if it was 636 or cbr.
That was one of my two buddies on either 1000RR’s. I was on the white ZX6R with neon yellow wheel stripes. Couldn’t have asked for better weather and the track conditions were perfect.
Makes sense. I was having shifting issues but couldn’t believe I was getting crushed by 600s.
