I'm looking at studding the tires on my XR650L.

as much as I'd like to stud them, I know that studs make things shittier unless your on ice
I ran the same Karoo Ts last winter as well, wish I had some pictures/video of some of the places I went. conditions such that I did not want to stop just to get going again
I'll have to set up somehting for video

Blizzak MC street tires

I can vouch for Randy being a fucktard during & just after heavy snowfall. I think I have some pics of him on his old SV the day after like, a 12" storm pulling into my yard...
I truly think he's going for Urban Legend status...
Did you grit your teeth and try to look like Clint Fuckin' Eastwood?
Or did you lisp it all hangfisted like a fuckin' flower?
I was worried about that too, but from what I've heard, if you use regular tire studs in a tire like a Conti TKC80, enough rubber stays in contact with dry pavement to still give pretty good traction. Not as good as a non-studded tire, of course, but definitely rideable. And the studs apparently improve traction on packed snow and ice by a huge margin.
I'll give it a try once it starts snowing here regularly and let you know how it works out.
As for Blizzak MC tires... that would be cool. I wonder how hard it would be to add a bunch of siping to something like a Kenda 270 or Mefo Explorer...

the Karoo Ts do have the M & S rating printed on the tire casing
