I never watched the show really. Bits here and there.

Funny thing though, a woman I use to work with saw them in Laconia. She liked the show and said they really do act the same in person.

Funnier thing, my Uncle is friends with their own family. He said it was all an act. They were nothing like they were on TV, behind closed doors. And being reality? Well, yea. That's one way to boost ratings...confrontation.

I can live without OCC but not having Norm and his sawdust every week is truely a sad day in the woodworking world

I heard he declined to do the show, not that they didn't have sponsor money.

That was a good show, the only thing that sucked is near the end it was always just the meglomaniacs vs whomever. The teams started to be the same.

I do like how they have the primary hanging out in the open. It's great. Sometimes they have a nice cover but I sorta like how in the video 1/2pint posted it's hanging out ready to rip your chaps off your leg. Once again, another reason not to wear chaps.

"Junkyard Wars" was by far the best back when it was just the British show "Scrapheap Challenge" rebadged for US consumption. Once they made a separate American version, it was never as good.

Funny how that keeps happening with British shows...

I wonder if jr's raging coke habit had anything to do with the show's demise. Nah scratch that, I don't care.

Sr. should quit before he has a stroke. Their bikes are unpractical to ride anyway.

What was the name of that show which featured Russell Something-or-other from Confederate Motorcycles as the host?

The show was based on people building their own custom bike from ground-up and complete it within a certain amount of days or they wouldn't get to keep it. This is going back a few years but I distinctly remember those details.

THAT is a show I'd like to see again.

    Re: Goodbye OCC

I'm pretty sure Russell Mitchell went off the air when Billy Idol sued for haircut infringement. Either that or they finally realized that he had no patience for dealing with noobs with mental disorders. He was getting worse than Jesse James at hiding that he hated dysfunctional people who claimed to be bike mechanics.

OCC was done a long time ago, they just didn't figure it out till now. I knew it was over when some girl took Mikey to the spa for a shower, shave and a haircut before taking him home for a ride. He refused the shower and haircut, then he went home alone with his toe nails painted. WTF?

Build or Bust; I ran into Russell Mitchell in Daytona one year. Real cool guy and he actually took the time to talk to us. Pretty easy going, not an ass like Jesse Rooke(TOOL)- total tool

Build or Bust was cool...especially when the hardcore dudes showed up and couldn't weld after they lied about building tons of bikes.... as for Jesse James...OCC couldn't hold a candle to the bikes he builds...like to see that fat bastard Mikey ride through Mexico. He'd probally claim another diabetic coma and crawl back to daddy.

This goes for pretty much every single reality tv show. One of the reasons I hate that genre of TV. Friggin joke.

Russell Mitchell from Exile Cycles, not Confederate (I don't think the Confederate guys would ever deign to appear on a medium as pedestrian as television).

The show, as others have pointed out, was "Build or Bust," and I agree that it was one of the most interesting of the bike-building shows. My biggest complaint -- just like with the other shows -- was that it was nothing but choppers. I would have been much more interested in seeing a mix of different custom bikes, from choppers to cafe racers to streetfighters to whatever.

Biker Buildoff got a little more interesting late in its run, when some of the builders started doing stuff that wasn't strictly a chopper. Roland Sands builds some awesome bikes; he did a V-Twin-powered sportbike on one episode. Some other builder built a salt racer, I think, out of a dirtbike (complete with two-stroke engine, IIRC).

The one thing that I always found lame about that show is how the junkyard was always magicly stocked with exactly what they needed.
