I had one. It worked fine. I never had a concern about it stability.

    Re: Harbor Freight Lift

I've had one 4 years now and it still works well. I changed out the front wheel chock for one of the HF's sport bike chock that locks your wheel into place. Depending on what I'm working on I either lock in the front or rear wheel. Have the gixxer on it now while the bike is on the rear stand. I've got the foot pump 1000lb model. I had a coupon and paid $279 for it in Worcester. Bought it before the HF opened up in Amherst nh so I had to pay sales tax. I'd buy one again if I had to.

Have used mine constantly for four years, no problems, works just fine.

I added some U-bolts for additional tie-down points.

You do get what you pay for but when you pay about $260 it's easy to live with. Especially when you're not a pro in a commercial shop sending the thing up and down all day every day.
No complaints with mine so far...

    Re: Harbor Freight Lift

It goes up, it goes down, stick the bar in it and it doesn't move. I dunno about anyone else but that's all I care for a lift to do. Mine's been doing it since about april. I've left a 400lb mille on it for 6 months with it lifted (safety bar in place of course) Came back to it, pumped it up, pulled the bar, let it down. Put my sv on it, pumped it up, put the bar in, walked away.

mine works just as well as everyone else has said.

maybe i haven't found a great trick but for me its still easier to to wheel removals on the ground generally, everything else they are awesome for.

also check out this thread just make sure you get the right bar with yours:

Mine has the welded on ring and the larger diameter referenced in that thread. Didn't actually see that thread until a long time after I had gotten the lift so apparently I just got lucky or something. Still a great piece of equipment for the price.

As an additional note, the HF lift is one of very few that I've seen that doesn't actually move along the floor when raising and lowering. Most lifts scissor up and down so one end of the base will roll back and forth. This may or may not matter to any given person but in my basement where the floor is far from perfectly smooth, not having to worry about catching on an edge is definitely a plus for me.

mine too, i'm not sure if a lot got sent out like that. my frame rails also don't have the flat spots on top but rather on the bottom.

My closed minded Handy Lift snobbery prevents me from acknowledging your positive experiences with HF.

Pretty sure mine are at the top which makes more sense as it spreads the load of the bar out onto a larger surface.

i agree and wish mine were, but i've had the vmax up there with the bar and all it did was make some marks in the paint/powder finish.
