Nope, not those. I should have said "helmet covers". As stoopid as I find them to be, I *DO* think the Animal from the Muppets one was kind of cool. But for the most part, I find them ridiculous

    Re: new hat

Every year for the past number of years, during the last round at Loudon there's usually some kinda Halloween party... these two chuckleheads decided to keep the party goin into Sunday and rolled out onto pre-grid in their Sylvester & Tweety Bird costumes on over their leathers.

Eric Wood (#5 on the Kawasaki) didn't see them until he was lapping them & was like 'DUBYA TEE EFF?!?!"

At least they're wearing helmets, unlike 50% of the rest of motorcyclists in NH who wear nothing but a pair of Oakley douchebag glasses on their fat heads.

Oh and obligatory get off my lawn retort.

To my obligatory get off my lawn remark! Ha!

But yeah, you're right in that respect. At least they're wearing helmets.

On the road the other day saw a helmet that had lights on the back integrated with the bike's brake light. Hadn't seen that before.

Looks goofy, but a pretty neat idea and best of all it's wireless (I assume it uses an accelerometer).

changing the shield is similar to an Arai, in that it sounds like you broke it, when it releases, fits my head perfect, I'll wear it as a disguise when I go fishin

I'm liking this Icon helmet, perfect head shape, tight getting it on. venting is good, my glasses don't fog, and most importantly, I can get them on easily

I've got 50 miles on it by now

    Re: new hat

Update on my review of the helmet. Put a 700 mile weekend with it, prior to this past weekend, only short, mostly running local errand rides.

Only thing I have to add, IT IS FUCKING HEAVY, that or my neck vertebrae are slouching, probably little of both, now I am in search of a lighter helmet that fits and doesn't break the bank to badly

My neck was sore, even with acetaminophen, I was stopping every 15-20 miles to take it off a few minutes, and when I rolled back into NH, it got bungeed to the back seat, the last 100 miles was only squirmy due to the shitty stock seat on my AK

That visor is likely what’s making your neck sore. My Arai XD makes my neck sore if I’m doing anything over 45-50mph because of the visor catching the wind.
When I toured in Finland last fall on a Gixxer 1K, I wore an MX helmet with goggles. The helmet (Airoh) I had was the lightest helmet I have ever worn, but the visor was still whipping my neck

I would agree with ya if I still had the stock shield, the Givi tall shield I have puts the wind well above my helmet, something I noticed a couple weeks ago when I put it on.

my bones are getting old too, I can hear popping and cracking in my neck with motion. This past weekend ride, was my first ride of that distance since the last time I made the exact same trip on my V-strom 6 years ago. I don't ride 40k/yr anymore, like I used to on my SV650 twenty years ago

yes I know, behind my Givi shield, my visor is out of the airstream, unlike my stock shield, it is in the windstream

Ahhhhh...I'm still with Mark though. You may not notice it as much, but I still think that's what's effecting you...

the wind may be pushing it down, I can't feel any turbulence that I can with the stock shield

    Am stealing.

Factoid: according to an industry manager “The shipping and handling cost for Oakley replacements is equal to their product cost plus shipping.” So their markup is on the order of 1,000%.
