You can install them anyway you like, despite what the photos show. Mine are installed almost in the opposite order; shrink wrap on bars (to insulate), then heat elements, then tape to hold them in place, then grips. I also have grip puppies installed over that. Net effect is that I loose some heat to the bars (through the shrink wrap) and a lot to the stack of grips and grip puppies between me and the burners. But they still work.

Next time I'll install as pictured on top of the grips and throw a new pair of grip puppies over the top of 'em. Should give me more direct heat.

I have the firstgear / warm n safe jacket and gloves and a dual control heat troller. Jacket works great, no complaints. The gloves pretty much assume you have heated grips. Great if you do, still pretty good if you don't. Maybe this year I'll get around to heated grips.

With an extra layer and the heated gear, I'm okay to commute down to about 25F for my 30-45 minute commute. Below that, my feet typically start getting cold and the penalty for a leak somewhere (jacket to balaclava, excessive face shield venting, etc.) gets pretty severe.

Haven't used them. Probably won't this year. But I opened the box. Initial impression is that they are not impressive. I think I've grown too used to quality sport riding gloves with 'roo skin, doubled up stitching, and reinforced knuckles. These gloves feel pretty flimsy and are a little light in the protection department. Also the fit is looser than I had expected.

Much more like ski gloves than riding gloves.

But maybe my expectations were too high.

This frightens me. I fear the same sort of thing with the Gerbing gloves and is why I bought glove liners. I'm not happy with glove liners either.

I have some Under Armor glove liners that I wear under my "normal" gloves when it's cool. They are thin, stretchy and great. I expected the same of the Gerbing liners. They are bulky, unstretchy and awkward.

I really really want the UA liners with micro wire. I'm not sure that exists (OK actually I'm pretty sure those don't exist).

Buy some heated gloves. Best money I've spent.

I've used a Warm 'n Safe jacket liner for several years, and Widder gloves and a generic neck sock for many years. I've ridden year round several years including quite a bit of sub-freezing and even some single-digit weather. My regular commute is about 40 minutes. Thumbs up for both the liner and the gloves. Widder is out of business, but the gloves regularly show up on Ebay. They don't offer the best crash protection, unless you consider crash prevention part of crash protection. Being comfortable allows you to focus on the task at hand.

Which gloves did you get, the carbon or regular? I have the Firstgear Carbon Heated gloves, they seem pretty well made with decent protection. They're pretty warm without the heat down to around 40-45 degrees for me.

I'm using some Scott snowmobile gloves and I'm very happy with them. They are similar to the current Cubrick II model. I had my heated Gerbing jacket on a little this AM - 39 degrees coming out of Boston.

Well, shit. I got the 'regular' or touring or whatever gloves. I hadn't seen those 'carbon' ones. I think mine are going to go back and I'll be exercising my retailers liberal exchange policy. Those look worth the premium in every respect.

How's the material? Is it soft/cheesy leather? The gloves I have almost feel like pleather.
