We are looking at a Scorpion EXO-1000 but I read in a review somewhere that these are heavy. (4lbs?)
Is there anyone here that has the EXO-1000 and also the EXO-700 or 750 that could weigh them for me?
Any comments from owners?
I have seen the EXO-1000 RPM version for $196 and the EXO-700 Engine for $123. Anyone beat that??
Check out the weblike world site.
Exo 1000 = 1821 gm
Exo 700 = 1733 gm

I had a 1000 for a season. I didn't notice the weight until I replaced it with a Shark RSR2 and the difference was night and day.
Had the exo 1000 for 1 year.
The helmet is pretty heavy, but has a good amount of features for the price. The flip down visor was pretty cool, but the the shape wasn't perfect for my head.
Ended up selling it and got a bell vortex. Can't say enough good things about it either.

I don't notice much of a weight problem with my EXO-700, and I went from an Arai Quantum II. It is noticeably heavier, but not too heavy by any stretch.

If you run into a wall with a helmet on, you still ran into a wall.
size large
4lbs 2 oz on my exo-1000
Thanks for all the good info.
He's got a budget of about $250.
Prefer fiberglass / Kevlar over thermoplastic shell. Any other suggestions for something that fits the bill?

Arai, shoei an shark can all be had for $250 if you look hard enough. Scorpions aren't bad helmets though

Revzilla has the EXO-700 in 'predator' graphics for $120.
Just look out for arnie hiding in the mud.
Forgive me if Im wrong- but I believe the Scorpions are for "round" heads. I have a long oval shaped head (good for HJC's) and the scorpion fits AWFUL on me. My forehead is jammed to the front on the Mediums and on the Larges- the sides are to big.
Helmet weight isn't a huge deal on the street but in high "G" situations it's huge. I used to race go karts and started out with an HJC helmet then I switched to a Simpson Bandit. One lap around the track and I wished I had made the switch much sooner. My neck was very happy after that and you can think more about your line than your neck killing.
I don't think I'd split hairs for a street helmet.
I couldn't disagree more. Scorpions I believe are for oval/narrow heads. Every one I have ever talked to agrees. But at the same time, heads can't only fit into just 2 categories. "Try on as many as you can"
I personally can't fit proper into any arai's for some reason. Scorpion was very snug but thought it would break in a little and it didn't that much. I thought HJC fit me good when it was my first helmet. Now after wearing a Shoei I realize I don't think any other helmets I owned fit properly.
Even webbikeworld can't seem to make up their mind:

http://www.webbikeworld.com/r2/motor.../exo-700-neon/Our opinion is that the size XL Scorpion EXO-700 is shaped for a round head..
My EXO-700 fits comfortably. That's about the extent of my first hand knowledge on that subject. This new EXO-700 seems to have a slightly modified fit compared to the original red EXO-700 we reviewed nearly 4 years ago. The size XL Neon shown here runs about 1/2 size smaller than expected; this XL should fit a neutral to long oval head shape of about 59 to 61 cm circumference.
I had a Scorpion EX700 and have a football shaped head. It fit me great. It held up and protected my head very well when I hit the pavement last year. I did replace it with a Shoei from Ted, but I would and will buy another in a heart beat. I actually liked it better than my Shoei.
