You see things on a motorcycle in a way that is completely different from any other. In a car you're always in a compartment, and because you're used to it you don't realize that through that car window everything you see is just more TV. You're a passive observer and it is all moving by you boringly in a frame.

On a cycle the frame is gone. You're completely in contact with it all. You're in the scene, not just watching it anymore, and the sense of presence is overwhelming. That concrete whizzing by five inches below your foot is the real thing, the same stuff you walk on, it's right there, so blurred you can't focus on it, yet you can put your foot down and touch it anytime, and the whole thing, the whole experience, is never removed from immediate consciousness.

What do you think about the wet track conditions today?
It was wet out there.

Did the rain play a factor?
I think it played a factor for all the riders.

How do you think the race went?
I think we did ok in all 3 aspects of the race. Accelerating, cornering, braking. We could have ridden better, could have done set up better, better tire management.

What did you say to your team after the race?
I don't discuss internal team conversations.

I saw you making some adjustments between qualifying and the race, can you elaborate?
We make adjustments all day long. There's a lot of dials and clickers there.

Casey Stoner has been complaining about a few things this year, what are your thoughts?
I have no comment on what riders on other teams say. I have enough work running my own team.

What do you think about Ben Spies leaving Yamaha?
I have no comment on what riders on other teams do.

Ben looks a bit dinged up?
Everyone has an injury at this point of the season.

How do you feel about the CRT bikes on the track with the prototypes?
Look they give us rules that we have to abide by and thats what we do.

Can anyone beat Lorenzo for the championship this year?
Theres a lot of races to go. Anything is possible. I will say this nobody gets to the track earlier than Jorge or stays later. Lots of film study, great preperation.

How do you like your team's chances.
Too early to say. We have a lot to work on.

How do you feel about the new airbag leathers?
I'm in favor of anything that helps rider safety.

What if they ruled no more passing in corners?
I'm in favor of anything that would help rider safety. Whatever rules they give us we'll abide by.
