As other people mentioned before about deductible, spot on. I can tell you from my experiences how the points work. No points for not at fault accident and that is what this would fall under. The other non-surchargable would be comprehensive claim (i.e. hit by debris from a highway mower which actually happened to me) It will show up on your insurance report, but it is not a surchargable event (ie no points). Here are two examples from when i was hit with debris and when a woman backed into my parked car of what it might show up as

Really, I know it sucks (I had a bike backed into and never caught the driver so I know). but time to calm yourself a bit, you're starting to make yourself look like a fool.

Hit an run is a criminal offense IF you hit a person and run, not backing into a couple bikes, this would be leaving the scene of an accident. Also, for you to prove leaving the scene of an accident, you need to prove the driver KNEW they hit the bikes, as silly as it sounds.

This is spot on. Especially when you factor in the culprit could have had a few wobbly pops or could have been driving an SUV the size of a tank. I have seen accidents where the driver had no idea they actually hit someone until they see the damage.

Either way J your insurance will take care of this and you will not receive any points or surcharges.

You can't enhance a picture if the details/pixels/resolution components aren't there. I spent 3 days with every digital imagery software that I could get my hands on trying to sharpen/unblur a huge 7 digit phone number on the side of someones truck that stole some of our plumbing fixtures. It was just too far away from the camera to grab.

Not trying to be a Debby downer here, just trying to tell you my thoughts are. To avoid points you are going to have to fight your case that you can see someone back into your bike, there is no reason to believe it didn't happen. You are my insurance company you are paid to insure me when this shit happens. It is not your fault that they don't have someone to charge. I am guessing they will deny your claim of getting it fixed without your points or premium going up at first. keep fighting.

The insurance company will probably appraise it and want to mail a low ball check. Don't take this quick resolution. Have it disassembled, meticulously appraised by another shop and submit this appraisal to your insurance company for payment.

Have all that done at the dealer, you'll probably get 500$ just for the decals and they have all of the oem parts prices on hand.

I was planning on having the insurance appraise it and see what they offer. I know they will low ball me. To be honest I don't plan on fixing any of the fairings. I just want the throttle fixed and pocketing the money to use towards a sport classic. If I bring it to a shop can they appraise it for more and just fix the throttle. I plan on using this one as a track bike.

I'll try to find my breakdown but off the top of my head I got 450 ish for a damaged fairing replacement and 300 to repair the other side (tiny scratch). Full oem value for a scratched lever, engine cover, slider, bar end, 100$ for a zx6r sticker, 800$ for the can etc etc plus labor. Walked away with 3000$ and I didn't fix a damn thing on I bike I bought a week prior for 3700$. The dealer caught every single scratch dent ding you name it.

yup ...you don't have to get everything fixed. In my case, I got an appraisal of $500 from the insurance company, then I took the bike to my dealer and got an appraisal of over $2000 (for every scratch, ding etc). Insurance had to pay the final amount and I got only $500 worth of stuff fixed, as everything else still works.

First of all, this sux!

Now that you have to deal with insurance here are couple things to remember:
•Most (but not all) insurance companies will try to screw you! Last accident I had they sent third party appraiser who had no clue what KTM was, bike was at the small repair shop (Not dealer) and he wrote up every single part they mentioned, no lowball attempts, I actually got more money to repair the bike than it was worth according to book value.
•Same for dealers, some will try to screw you, they will replace all the parts and insist on keeping them and then ask for deductible on top of that!
Make sure the cost of doing estimate is disclosed up front, some dealers insist on 10% of repair bill if you pull the bike from the shop before it gets repaired.
•If you have a lien on the bike (financing) Ins Co may insist on direct payment to the repair shop, in that case make sure the shop is a good one
•You can get points or fault removed form your record, just threaten to go to court, a friend crashed the bike on some oil, took some back and fourth but they did take the "fault" off his record because police report did include the oil spill as the cause.

Good thing is I don't have a lien. What do you mean by replacing the parts and keeping it? Do you mean they keep the old parts? Are you entitled to keep the old parts?

my buddy wanted his old bodywork back for track day spares and dealer was insisting that it belongs to them, which it does not, if anyone owns it it's the Insurance Co since they paid for replacements.
Dealers will keep parts with minor damage and re-sell them, you'd be surprised what you can get for a side panel with few scratches on it, I don't have a problem with someone making a buck, but lying about who those parts belong to is another story.
