Depends, explain answer in a post.
What do you guys think..I'm trying to get some insurance and I have always been a beleiver in Full covereage but the price difference is crazy.
What are some of you opinions.
so far this is the lowest quote I have gotten..
$121.50 for liability and $1028.78 full cov.
If it was worth what you paid, the insurance company would be out of business![]()
Seems like both of your statements support liability only, so I wonder why you voted "depends?Originally posted by Mystery Squid
I voted "depends"....
The less you spend on insurance, the more cautious you'll be with your bike, and, obviously, vice-versa.
But, if you're a fairly responsible rider, and cautious about where you park your bike, I'd say save the $.

unless someone hits u, its not worth it. My ins. co. told me that if my bike fell over and i wanted to file a claim that it would be 3 points on my ins. Which would translate into a 21% increase of policies that I held with them, then i have to wait several years for the points to be dropped which would end up costing me more than fixing the bike myself.

Huhwha? I just figure anything that gets us to ride more cautiously on the street is probably a Good Thing (tm).Originally posted by Mystery Squid
The second statement does. The only reason the first one might appear that way to you, is that I inadvertently chose to present the concept based on liability only, first. I could have phrased it as: The more you spend on insurance, the less cautious you'll be with your bike, and, obviously, vice-versa.
That statement is ambiguous in suggestion, it merely presents two equal mechanisms. But, since one mechanism was placed in front of the other, you saw it in a literal linear "left to right" fashion versus absorbing it as a whole, first.

I have full coverage on the RC and only pay $416.00/yr. So it is a no-brainer for me but seeing what other people pay for RC's and litre bikes, it would depend on how much the bike was worth. I will only claim major damage or theft for mine. My bike right now is insured for over 9K with my after-market stuff. So if I even had to pay $1500/yr I still would.

full coverage or you're gonna be crying 'I shoulda'. Is 80 bucks a month really too much for you?
My bike did fall and pretty bad as far as cosmetics go. My insurance (Commerce) covered the fall as a comprehensiver case because I was not riding it. $500 deductable and no points! Just like a winshield claim but with $500 bucksOriginally posted by Feirax

I also voted yes.
It really sucks to pay out but if ya need it and don't have it that will suck even worse. Get the full coverage.

I have 100-300 uninsured/underinsured prop damage, and passenger coverage
I don't have comp-collision
The reasons,100-300 if I hit someone there is enough liability coverage so they won't come after me, unins-underins if they hit me I have more then enough coverage, Pass cov(don't know?) I mean no rear pegs and always got the rear cowl on. No comp-coll, well if I wreck it it's gonna sit till I can pay to fix it, but if it catches on fire or gets lost I'm fucked![]()
Hell, just breathing on my bike (exhaust, tank, etc.) will cost $1000. It's full coverage for me my friend ($400/yr).

Gieco doesn't do insurance in Massachusetts...
Guess I'll have to settle for the every-other-year insurance "job" on it...Pays for mods AND premiums...

definitely depends. If you have an expensive bike that's expensive to repair and hard (or expensive) to get parts for, probably you should get full coverage. if you have an older, common bike (like my old GSXR and would ratehr spend some time and energy searching out good deals on parts and working on it yourself, then you can probably stick with liability. (especially if the cosmetic aspect isn't a factor. If you don't mind scratched up or non-matched fairings, you can save a lot of cash)
Of course, liability only will definitly make you a bit more cautious onthe road, (which is good and bad), because it's your own wallet on the line if you mess it up.
