I'm seeing this bendy section a bit more often on some of the newer bikes.
In an effort to stimulate debate on the subject would it be safe to say it's for ease of oil filter removal?

It's also, maybe even more so, to keep oil heat down. A lot of heat radiates from the pipes and into that very thin metal oil filter.

Sounds good to me.
What about the length of the pipe?
The pipes on my Ninja seem so simple in design compared to the Benelli.
There is a lot of science in designing and exhaust. Sometimes the shortest distance isn't the best for the power curve.

So the shape may be just so to maybe slow the flow of exhaust as it travels outward from the engine? Would the insides of the pipe be treated with anything special or is it a moot issue due to pumping forces from the engine?
A lot of the pipe shape on that bike is for looks as much as anything.
I heart the TnT.
I would venture a guess (as others have) that it's to keep heat off the block/filter, and to ease filter changing.
Maybe need length or bullsh*t catalytic converters

the length of the pipe and speed of flow are not related, except when heat loss changes the density of the exhaust..
"slowing the flow" is never a goal of the exhaust designers.
well.. actually, at lower rpms and part throttle applications, some resistance to flow helps fatten the torque curve in that area, but that works against high rpm HP which is why many sportbikes are incorporating a flow control valve downstream in the exhaust system.
ideally, the inside of the entire system would be treated /ceramic coated to hold the heat in and improve flow

REALLY?!
first of all, my reference to length wasn't meant to make you self conscious
second of all, someone else referenced length of pipe and implied that the extra forward travel of the pipe could have been for extra length, which would improve low end torque, but cost in high end HP usually..
..because the length can be restrictive too, due to harmonic reversions etc

It may be for exhaust sound too. I know some companies put big bucks into making sure they have that special note. Otherwise IDK
does it have anything to do with what will make the company more money?
Might be
