The new rig is home.
The ride home was interesting as I had forgotten the mirror's and the bolts to hold the seat down. But - 50 miles later and I was in the garage.
The bike handles very nice, much better than the FZ-1 did. There is much more stability and very little headshake.
The 10-speed tranny is nice and the shaft drive perfect.
The front forks are very soft, and the brake feel even softer. New springs, fluid and lines are in order. The rear shocks are Air Suspension units. A zap of air and the rear is perfect.
The bike needs tires soon, and a complete fluid change. New grips are coming, too.
Overall, a very nice rig that will tide us over for a season or two until the 'Wing is in our driveway!

always wondered this but never got around to asking -
just outta curiosity, how do you lean/corner with a sidecar?
and, if the sidecar breaks off, is the person in the sidecar pretty much screwed?

All sidecars have to corner, but some also lean. There have been mechanical systems to make the car lean, but now there are electric systems available from companies that make sidecars like California and Champion.
You only want the car to lean to help it turn. Without leaning, the rig can still turn, but just needs far bar input to do it. However, it's now like a car - no countersteering is needed.
I have never heard of a sidecar breaking off. You have at least four mounting points, and three of those would have to fail in order to lose the sidecar.
Sidecars are a lot of fun, and do get a lot more looks than your run of the mill R1 or GSXR would.

Does yours lean?
I tried one that didn't lean, it didn't do anything for me. It was like a car that didn't handle well. (The fork had not been set up for the sidecar yet)
I could see the leanable ones as being lots of fun. Riding in the sidecar was a ton of fun too. I bet kids LOVE it.

reminds me of the BATCYCLE on tv. holy crimewave batman!
I want to check that thing out sometime, how it mounts etc. I have considered adding a sidehack to one of my XV920Rs
how often do you fly the chair in lefthanders?

Nice! I rode a wing with a sidecar years ago (only way I could handle that big of a bike). I'm not sure what kind of experience you have with a sidecar, but take right turns slower, as cintrifical force will lift that up! Have fun!
