Re: Local shop refusing to mount tires,,,,
They obviously put something in the water down in Mass to make people crazy, because around here a tire change is no more than $20-25 per tire off the bike.

Re: Local shop refusing to mount tires,,,,

"Stella Liebeck"... google some of the details of that coffee lawsuit. News media made us believe it was some completely outragous lawsuit, which is eactly what big corps like McDonalds want us to think.
I'm not saying it's a smart idea to put coffee in your lap, but neither is a restaraunt keeping their coffee at extremely high temperatures even after hundreds of injuries and dozzens of lawsuits. McD's knew what they were doing was dangerous and continued to do it.

Sorry, don't agree.
McD's serving coffee that is "too hot" is grounds to shop for coffee somewhere else. The media and the court of public opinion should go to town on them. But ultimately if you pick up a cup of hot coffee and drive around with it on your lap.. well, that's on you.
Before you know it we'll have federally mandated requirements on what temperature coffee may and may not be served at.
No different than if you choose to ride a motorcycle. I don't care where or how you buy your tires.
Here I go on that personal responsibility baloney again.

Re: Local shop refusing to mount tires,,,,
my girlfriends brother has an RSV. he bought a SET of tires from the local dealer (H,Y,K,S) and then they said that they couldnt mount them because it was an Aprilia. then he asked if they could do it if he brought down just the wheels...the answer....NO. he bought the tires there and they wont mount them. bullshit. not everyone gets their tires online....some people just get fucked into having to find another place willing to mount the tires.
weve changed dirt bike tires/tubes at the HD shop i work at.
ive personally mounted new tires on Triumph wheels, and a katana wheel at work

There are rules about how hot food and drinks can be served at. It's very well known and accepted that McDonald's were very much at fault in that claim. I have a good friend who is a lawyer for a fast food chain and we spoke at length about this one day. My opinion was the same as yours and he put me straight. That woman was seriously burned and maimed for life because of mcdonalds negligence.

Yup, Degsy, that's pretty much what happened. The problem wasn't "coffee is hot" and the woman should have known that, as the media reported. The issue was that the temperature of the coffee was wayyy beyond what is allowed or that you'd expect and as soon as she took hold of the cup she let go and spilled it, causing severe burns. There's always going to be litigation, some necessary, some not, but it does force companies to abide by laws and sets limits for acceptable practices; but for that, anyone could do anything.
As for tire mounting, I'd recommend Seacoast.

Somewhat below the temperature that causes full-thickness burns to human skin.

So this may not be true any longer. I was in Roadsides tire storage area last Friday and they have a SHITLOAD of new tires!! I will definitely get a price from them the next time I need to buy any. :twothumb::twothumb:
