    spin the bike around

Did he do it while spinning up the rear tire cause that would be kewl. Especially if he hit the rev limiter thats kewl too. Even better with out a muffler can on.

The sidestand is strong but keep in mind that it is made out of cast and can snap if it has any dammage to it.

    Good point.

Kham's bike is pretty new though so I don't THINK he has any damage on it yet. I may be wrong.

    spin the bike around

I try to stay away from doing that. Keep in mind that enough forward momentum can make the kickstand fold on you while you are doing this also.
Just not good practice to do, but in a bind I guess you sdo what you have to?

it will also cause metal fatigue in you sidestand, sidestand mount and bolt, if you do it enuf, your bike will start leaning over more when on the sidestand, I have already replaced the sidestand once on my SV. not from spinning my bike on the sidestand, but from using the peg as a step to throw my leg over.

    spin the bike around

Last year while shopping I spoke to a sales guy about the reduced lock-to-lock steering capabilities characteristic of Ducati's that you gotta think about when maneuvering at very low speed. His response was "nah, just spin the bike around on its kickstand". Not all salesmen are riders, heh, heh.

So my pal stores his bike at same dealer in Winter and whattya know, when he calls to retrieve it in Spring they say they're waiting on new kickstand to arrive for his bike because it was broken somehow while in storage... he had to wait about two extra weeks until it was fixed.

    I wonder how it broke?

    spin the bike around

I grab the passenger rail on my SV and just lift up the back tire to move it around. I can't spin it all the way around but I can move it around enough if I need to, and it doesn't put the weight on the kickstand.
